    Everything from the staff to the ambience and food was outstanding. It was our first time there and we weren’t really sure what to expect but it didn’t disappoint. The waiters were extremely attentive and the food was delicious. We ordered three Parker rolls, Baba Ganoush, hamachi, King Trumpet mushrooms, roasted Branzino and roasted chicken and finished with the strawberry soufflé. The stands outs were the baba ganoush, mushrooms, Branzino and soufflé. An added bonus to the evening was seeing Brian Malarkey walking around the restaurant!

    We brought my mom in for her birthday dinner and she was so impressed! Every single food and drink item that came to our table was absolutely delicious and thoughtfully prepared.

    Went here for my Girlfriend’s Birthday party on Sunday 09/01/24. Dinner was going good, their cabernet sauvignon tasted really good, food was great besides the sauce for the filet mignon, both my girl and her friend agreed the sauce was not it, not up to par. They brought out a small little bowl of ice cream with some kind of crushed nuts or pistachios I believe and a little up candle to sing happy birthday for my girl. Like I said everything was going great they did good on service for the most part. Anyways this was my first time eating at a nice little restaurant with a bill totaling up to $386 or so. I thought leaving a $25 cash tip would suffice, I personally went out my way to let the waitress know that I had left a cash tip for her under a wine glass literally not even 2 mins after walking way from the table. So we’re walking towards the door and this man whom I believe is the host or somewhat of a greeter stops us and says “did you guys enjoy your dinner? How was it?” I reply “it was great it was great thank you.” This man then proceeds with the audacity to ask “well then why didn’t you tip my server?”. The host/greeter was a baldheaded man with a handlebar mustache standing at about 5’6”. I left a tip theres no doubt about it which made no sense to me how in his right mind would ever think it was okay to ask a customer that. If it wasn’t enough and you guys don’t have a great system for paying your servers then let me know so I can better accommodate your server with a bigger tip. How about charge a gratuity fee? Why don’t you explain to all your customers before sitting down at Herb & Wood “Don’t eat here unless you’re going to leave $75-$100 as a tip for a $386 tab”. My bad I wasn’t raised in the suburbs where my parents always had the money to pay for expensive meals. My bad I didn’t know or was taught any better. Overall brought the whole experience to a 1 star.

    We had a wonderful meal. One of the best! Zach is as our server and took great care of us! KUDOs to Zach for recommendations and service!

    I had a reservation at 8pm and made an order at 8:15pm; however, food was delivered 9:15pm. Food had No flavor at all (salad, main course and sweet). The portion was very small. I left my main course after one bite. Paid $177 plus tip but won’t go back or recommend it.

    One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in decades. Amazing food and outstanding service made this a restaurant to remember.

    Amazing would be an understatement. The food, drinks, and service was outstanding! Definitely Michelin quality! It was on our list of “ places to check out “ and by far the best in San Diego! Our server Matty was incredible, he guided us through the menu to make our dining experience second to none. Our drinks were perfection and we were never pressured to leave as we took our time to enjoy the ambiance, the sounds, and all the amazing food.

    Wow. It’s hard to rate this place with any other word. Fantastic food, great atmosphere, and the service was stellar. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an experience—everything was exceptional, but the dessert (a date cake) was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had.
