Welcome to Hart House, one of the lower mainland's finest dining experiences. Built in 1910, the locally renowned Tudor style heritage house is situated on two acres of gardens on Deer Lake. This idyllic country estate, is only 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
BC Restaurant Hall of Fame Proprietor and restaurateur Paul Smolen transformed the 'family home' into a restaurant in 1989.
Since then, Hart House has opened its doors to countless dining guests, newlyweds and corporate clients; offering culinary excellence, a well stocked wine cellar and friendly professional service.
Hart House has been inducted into the Burnaby Business Hall of Fame in October of 2014.

    In the bathroom and inside the dining room, clearly visible is black mold and grime on both the bathroom floors and windowsills. It is shocking that they neglect the cleanliness of their restrooms. Regrettably, the bathrooms were not the sole concern; I was seated adjacent to an air conditioning unit, which exhibited dust and black mold within the vents. Additionally, there were remnants of old food atop the vent, clearly visible and indicative of a lack of attention to cleanliness. This raises concerns about the overall hygiene standards, leading one to ponder the condition of the kitchen. When ordering, I had made the server aware of my allergies to beets and pineapple, both of which can trigger anaphylaxis. Upon returning from a restroom break, I was surprised to find a plate that appeared to contain beets. When I next encountered the server, he confirmed it was indeed beets. He promptly removed the dish and replaced it with bruschetta; however, this oversight represents a significant safety concern and raised my anxiety regarding the rest of my meal. The restaurant is fortunate that I did not accidentally consume the beets, as this could have resulted in potential legal ramifications. For individuals with allergies, I would advise against dining here. Miscommunication issue within, yet again. As someone who frequently indulges in fine dining, particularly European fare, I was taken aback by the excessive saltiness present in many dishes. The gnocchi itself was of high quality, dissolving pleasantly in the mouth. The mushroom arancinis lacked flavor and were excessively salty. The pavlova, on the other hand, was overly sour and required a steak knife for cutting. The soup special, a potato barley chowder, was insipid. The portion sizes were generous and satisfying. Peculiarly, I was never offered table bread, whilst other guests were.

    One of our favourite places go often can not wait for outside seating again when weather is warmer inside can be very loud

    I brought a group of business owners for brunch and networking. The food was fantastic, we had excellent service and the atmosphere was beautiful.

    We had a beautiful meal celebrating a birthday last evening. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by a welcoming maitre'd who brought us to our table, We had an amazing server that looked after us, making sure we were having a great dinner. I was especially grateful for the attention they spent on making sure I had gluten-free options to choose from. The Hart House is always a special place we return to each year celebrating an important milestone. We highly recommend it.

    Mushrooms gnocchi delicious. Not as the best Risotto and the Hallibut both itmes on the regular menu, for all of us should be better. Other times the food was outstanding, not today. The gnocchi save the night. The server was so kind and she did great. I don't know why you charge for 4 small glasses of Diet coke. 12 dollars. At least should be canned for this price. Anyway... you just need to think about that!
