Welcome to Hart House, one of the lower mainland's finest dining experiences. Built in 1910, the locally renowned Tudor style heritage house is situated on two acres of gardens on Deer Lake. This idyllic country estate, is only 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
BC Restaurant Hall of Fame Proprietor and restaurateur Paul Smolen transformed the 'family home' into a restaurant in 1989.
Since then, Hart House has opened its doors to countless dining guests, newlyweds and corporate clients; offering culinary excellence, a well stocked wine cellar and friendly professional service.
Hart House has been inducted into the Burnaby Business Hall of Fame in October of 2014.

    Staff were very helpful when we asked to be moved inside. Good service, and wonderful food. Noisy at times due to the closeness of the tables.

    My family and I started a tradition of an annual dinner to celebrate our 5 birthdays. We love the Hart House. A menu that everyone can enjoy, beautiful surroundings and Excellant service.

    The food, service, and atmosphere were incredible. It is high end food but the pricing is very reasonable for what you get. $64 for a three course menu of some of the best food I have ever had in my life is absolutely worth it. I highly recommend this spot for a small celebration, fancy date, or just to treat yourself. It is so neat to see the heritage house and grounds and be tucked away for a delicious meal. I also highly appreciated the number of non alcoholic beverages that were available! This was a very nice touch. My partner also enjoyed their cocktail.

    My husband and I had a lovely anniversary dinner. We had the halibut dinner. The chef cooked it to perfection. It was very tasty well presented . The service was very good. Excellent!! The Hart house is a must for anyone wanting to have a great dinner. We had a lovely time!!

    Beautiful setting and patio. Great view of deer lake and gardens. Service was very good. Perfect balance of professional and friendly. They did not get my guest's order right but corrected it immediately when she pointed it out. They did not make us feel rushed and every interaction was done with a smile. There was a rat that ran around the tables outside after dusk and was quite bold. It didn't come up to our table, just the empty ones. It wasn't very busy on a weeknight and this is one of my favourite restaurants with a unique warm ambiance and good food. rat aside, the patio is really quite lovely with warm lighting and you feel like youre outside the city with the gardens.

    Lovely Sunday Brunch on the patio overlooking the lake. Wine was delicious, coffee and water refilled pronto. Menu was interesting and diverse. The chicken and waffles was best we’d ever had. It’s always a treat to dine at The Hart House. They really do have heart.

    This is an absolute gem! The service is impeccable (they are so kind), the food is stellar, and the ambiance is second to none. I wanted my mom to have a special night since she's coming to visit me, and she rrely gets a chance to get away, so this Hart House was perfect!!

    We recently had lunch at Hart House and were treated to a wonderful meal which was enhanced by excellent service. This is definitely Burnaby’s best restaurant. I will be going again and highly recommend it to one looking for great food and exceptional service. Love the free parking as well!
