Although the ambiance took you back in time which was lovely the food was so underwhelming shells throughout most dishes along with questionable cleanliness of others. Asked 4 times for my side dish that I never received. Manager who stopped by asked us how everything was on her own asked us how everything was and when we answered “just ok” and explained our experience she walked over to our server and questioned him directly in front of us which was extremely uncomfortable. Then came back and basically said “sorry” as she walked by. Was super sad about our experience here. Ultimately I would never recommend anyone dining here but definitely worth a cocktail or two for the nostalgic atmosphere.

I expected the fish to be much better. Vegetables were mediocre at best. Our server was very pleasant but Oyster Bar has seen better days.

oyster bar is a magical place and lineage point for many new yorkers. its a time machine to another era, to many other eras. I remember taking my parents here 20 years ago and then my daughter recently and now my mother in law. service is friendly and warm. fish is fresh and variety is luxurious. would bring natives and visitors. place is home for both

Classic NY restaurant with seriously overpriced, mediocre food. The oysters are first rate though.

It’s a classic place but the food quality has declined. My guest’s fish was under cooked and had to be returned to cook some more. Our creamed spinach was not hot and, indeed, barely warm. And my crab cakes were mostly breading with very little crab taste. The Manhattan clam Chowder was favorable and the ambience is still nice. Please enhance the food quality!

We really enjoyed dining here - a fantastic place to have oysters!! but also the fried clams were amazingly good - so fresh. Even the dessert was delicious - what a find!
