It's the season to eat, drink and to be merry.. Our Executive Chef, Alexander Thiel, has created a exquisite three-course set menu for the big day. Come and celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with family, friends or colleagues. You can enjoy our New Years Eve Menu for £98 per person including a glass of Sekt. Please note this is the only menu available. We require a £50pp deposit to secure this reservation. We offer a full refund policy if the booking is cancelled 1 week before. This menu is only served at the restaurant on the first floor.

The upstairs Restaurant at German Gymnasium takes diners on a journey around the lesser known aspects of German cuisine, with a sophisticated seasonal menu that is only available on our first floor. The Restaurant menu has been thoughtfully designed by our Executive Chef, Alexander Thiel, drawing on his experiences as a restauranteur in Berlin to deliver a unique experience for London’s foodies. Walk up the grandiose staircases in our Grade 2 listed historical building and soak up the high-ceilinged ambience, enjoy views over the buzzing ground floor Grand Café and order from the chic Meister Bar, which shares the first floor with the Restaurant. 2 courses and a glass of wine £30 3 courses and a glass of wine £35

We require a £50pp deposit to secure this reservation Please note this is the only menu available. We offer a full refund policy if the booking is cancelled 1 week before. Your reservation is subject to 2 hours return time. No No Club D&D discount on Christmas Day.

The schnitzel is delicious but absolutely huge. It could do with being slightly smaller and therefore also a bit cheaper! The beer menu on tap is disappointing, with just some very average pilsner. The wine list is better. The kasespatzle is amazing and excellent value.

Impeccable service. Super close to station so very convenient. Tables quite packed in, a bit more space would be good. But light and airy and food delicious.

I have visited several times before and this occasion was disappointing. When my bill is over £700 I do not expect to be told that I need to vacate my table with 5 minutes notice, particularly when we were celebrating a family birthday. I have no plans to return anytime soon.

Dear Steven, Thank you for your recent visit and for taking the time to leave us your feedback. All our bookings have a time limit, depending on the booking size. We always try to extend it for the guests who would like to stay at the table for longer, however, it is not always possible during busy periods of the day. We would normally offer for our guests to move to our bar on the first floor- please accept our most sincere apologies if that was not the case on this occasion. We will be discussing this with our team on the day as it is never our intention to ruin anyone's celebrations. Lively, fun and welcoming restaurant with excellent selection of both brunch and lunch choices. The food is really very good and well prepared. Standard of each course is very good , portion sizes are perfect so you can manage two courses. I met with family for lunch and we had a really good experience. Really fantastic service. We were not rushed between courses but also felt that the staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and what we needed. Filled our glasses with water without asking and lots of other little touches. It is a very busy, buzzy place but the tables are small and cosy that you can hear the people on your table. Would recommend as a place to meet up with friends and family.

My goose was lukewarm not hot, my wife’s chicken was the same. The couple next to us again complained their food was lukewarm

Terrible food. Very limited vegetarian options, most of the dishes without protein. The three veggie meals were deep fried. Everything served with chips. Seemed more fast food for a restaurant price. Best thing was the wine very good and the service was lovely. Far too many tables squashed into the space, so much so you can’t get in the door to reception if someone in-front of you. Less tables and more reception space please. This is a restaurant who are trying to make maximum profit from its location and not caring about food or the ambience. Toilets were messy and not regularly checked. Very disappointed. There are much better restaurants in the area. I wouldn’t book again.

Please accept our most sincere apologies that the bathrooms were not up to a standard during your visit, we will be looking into this- thank you for bringing it to our attention. We have a mixture of veggie dishes- some of the dishes are deep-fried, some are not. French fries come with burgers and currywurst sausages, as it is the traditional way of serving it, however, all other dishes are served with different sides. I'm very sorry to hear that you were not happy with the dishes you had. I'm glad you enjoyed the service and we hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. I'm a great fan of the German Gymnasium and usually find the service excellent, but on this occasion our visit was marred by poor drinks service by a rather arrogant waiter. But that was offset as usual by the lively atmosphere and the wonderful Christmas tree.

Very disappointing. Food was overpriced. Special duck was very dry, Schnitzel was not too good either, pudding was plain and listed ingredients weren’t there. One expects real quality food if the main dish costs £40.00. Service was just ok. Being asked to leave in a few minutes, as the table has been booked again while we were still finishing our coffee and drinks was not appropriate. Not going back.
