The upstairs Restaurant at German Gymnasium takes diners on a journey around the lesser known aspects of German cuisine, with a sophisticated seasonal menu that is only available on our first floor. The Restaurant menu has been thoughtfully designed by our Executive Chef, Alexander Thiel, drawing on his experiences as a restauranteur in Berlin to deliver a unique experience for London’s foodies. Walk up the grandiose staircases in our Grade 2 listed historical building and soak up the high-ceilinged ambience, enjoy views over the buzzing ground floor Grand Café and order from the chic Meister Bar, which shares the first floor with the Restaurant. 2 courses and a glass of wine £30 3 courses and a glass of wine £35

Come and celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with family, friends or colleagues. You can enjoy our Christmas Menu, for £125 per person. We require a £50pp deposit to secure this reservation Please note this is the only menu available. We offer a full refund policy if the booking is cancelled 1 week before. Your reservation is subject to 2 hours return time. No No Club D&D discount on Christmas Day.

Nice breakfast and excellent service. We particularly enjoyed the distinctive German options. The coffee, however, was nearly undrinkable. Why a fine establishment like this would serve coffee made from such low quality coffee beans is baffling. To be clear, the issue is the use of cheap robust beans rather than quality arabica beans, which are widely available from local roasters. In a city of amazing coffee options, this was a major disappointment.

They took ages to seat us, even though we had booked, they then sat us at a table on the side which had no atmosphere. Service was also poor and we couldn't understand what the waiter was saying. Food was also very unspecial and very overpriced for what it was.

Pretty slow and unattentive service, thanks in part to how crowded it was. Every single dish was covered in their “house sauce” which ruined the flavours in my opinion.

Fabulous venue and great service. Restaurant full for Christmas which is a good sign, but it did slow some of the service. Got to say great attitude, great food and great venue. Love it

Beautiful space but overly busy, particularly around the entrance. The front of house service was lovely but the table service was pretty chronic: continually rushed with a charmless, rude manner. No sooner had we sat down with a glass of fizz, we were asked three times for our order within 5 minutes. Some of the food was literally inedible - the chocolate crumble tray bake straight from the fridge was far too hard to cut with a spoon. And of course, we were asked if we were finished with a quarter of the rock remaining! Beautiful space place, but pretty lousy experience in many ways!

Food as always is good - and ambience is good too, wine good. Service lacking and it took 20 mins to get someones attention and getting the bill was a night mare! You can do better ...

Even at the height of Christmas fever, the staff were so professional and helpful, the food was delicious and comforting and the cocktails great. I'll be ging back for sure.

Team communication & service needs attention. We were told to sit at the bar upstairs & someone would fetch us. They never did despite us asking 3 times.

Food was nice but felt very rushed by our waiter. We had a booking so presumably our table was covered for at least 90min and we were there for a relaxed Xmas lunch but waiter kept rushing us to order and was annoyed when we asked for more time to decide. When I asked him if there was an issue with us taking a few more minutes to decide, he said, 'not for me but it will be for reception'. This was all within about 10-15 mins of sitting down. It's the run up to Xmas so can totally appreciate he must have been busy and was possibly having a bad day but it did make myself and my friend uncomfortable and took the shine off the evening.
