We got to the restaurant expecting to be seated at a table and were told we needed to book a minimum of two hours prior to our dining time and specifically ask for a table in the “special request” section. We were then seated at the sushi bar, something my husband was not thrilled with, that set the stage for the meal. The food was good, and the sushi was fresh, although the price point was higher than we paid for sushi previously in other establishments. The service felt rushed and the staff tended to reach through our sushi bar counter asking if they can take away finished dishes as soon as we put our chopsticks down, which was annoying. Although the sushi was really good and fresh, the experience was ruined for me from all the other “dining factors” that came along with it.

Very creative specialty rolls. The sushi was first rate on a par with the best I've had anywhere in the entire US. Service was great since we got to the restaurant 15 minutes early and they fit us in to a very busy time. The hostess went out of her way to make things comfortable. There were messages everywhere that they don't hold reservations more than 15 minutes because they as always busy. I now believe I know why. This place is a real gem.

Best sushi I’ve had in NC. Lived next to Sushi Row in Studio City CA (Nozawa, Kiwami, Sugarfish, Katsuya, Asanebo) and Genki is on par with those. Thrilled to have found it.

Good quality fresh fish but very small portions. Very thin slices of tuna on the rolls. Other items great- shrimp special, gyoza, tofu. They could be a bit more generous with the fish portions for the price they charge for speciality rolls.

We enjoy every meal we have at Genki. It’s such a special place to us. We brought our two year old there for the first time and they made it so special for him. He loved the food and they gave him kid chopsticks that he loves! It was very thoughtful of them.
