   Had a very good experience with both food quality and service! Dining here is like time warping back to the 1780’s when this place opened, very low lighting, old wooden tables and chairs and a fireplace in each room. We had the gumbo on special, and the chicken pot pie. The gumbo was excellent, the chicken pot was very good also…just needed to be served a little hotter. We had a cup of soup, a chowder I believe, that was very good. Cool establishment!

   We enjoyed being immersed in history while dining here. The food was delicious and the menu offered a nice variety. The seafood chowder and the fried oysters were excellent!

   I enjoyed lunch with my husband and another couple at this charming restaurant. The peanut soup was especially good.

   Almost three hours for a Prix Fix dinner. Food was cold and mediocre.

   It was a while since I'd dined here. I was surprised by how empty it was and it seems like they're short-staffed or keeping their labor costs low. The food quality has also diminished. I got the Virginia Eggs Benedict, it was flavorless, the home fries were bland and not crispy at all. The best thing were the complimentary breakfast muffins and my partner's steak. The waiter had five or six tables to himself. He did an outstanding job keeping up with every table and providing quality service to each. Our coffee mugs and water glasses were never empty!

   The ceiling was falling down due to water and the bathrooms were not updated- so awful and smelled

   My husband and I took our twelve year old daughter and all three of us really enjoyed it. We had the duck, the filet, and the crab mac and cheese. All three dishes were outstanding! The tables are close making it easy to overhear if voices get too loud but I didn't find it distracting at all. The staff was wonderful all stopping to assist or clear our table even if they weren't our main server. The only SMALL issue was it being so cold the entire time. I still say five stars because there wasn't much staff could do. The tables were close to the door so every time the large door opened we were hit with a cold blast. A large (20+) group of men came in and the door was open for longer than maybe it needed to be. Aside from that there was nothing we would change and we will be back!

    What an amazing dinner in such a historical place. A must see and experience. We will be back to try other things from the menu.
