Excellent experience all the way around. Especially enjoyable was the gentleman from 1824. Service was outstanding!

We enjoyed Gadsbys and the food was great. It was just very hot in the restaurant and the food is very heavy like comfort food which would be better in cooler weather.

We had reservations for 5:30 when it opened and were the second group to be seated. We waited over an hour for our food and were never given a reason until we had to seek out the Manager. Finally we received our food and not a single time did we receive an apology or visit from the Manager until I requested one and then very apprehensive. We love Alexandria and had taken out of state guests and we were very disappointed. Just do better please. It’s a great place and would have loved to have enjoyed it more. Hard to say about recommending but we probably would in hopes they would get better service.

My Family and I were visiting from Wisconsin and we thoroughly enjoyed the food but I think we enjoyed the history behind it even more!!

The history of the tavern made everything a little better. The Smithfield ham on a biscuit was fantastic. The peanut soup was oddly satisfying. Washington’s Duck was really good. The waitress/server was a delight.

This was our second visit to the Tavern. We go to DC usually once or twice a year and found this restaurant last year. Our first visit was fantastic, but that was due to the fact that it was not overly busy and the people were not loud and waiter was attentive. The food for both trips was excellent and not expensive. Our second visit was a disaster. It was not what we had hoped for, we could not even hear each other talk. People all talking loudly. We understand that as an authentic tavern it would have been noisy, but the restaurant needs to maybe consider numerous large groups in one room.

Crispy oyster appetizers was great. I love the George Washington favorite, the orange duck.
