The Gabriel Archer Tavern was built in 1987 on footprints of an old farm shed. Today, its mission is to provide a memorable farm-to-table dining experience that's both delicious and nourishing.

In addition to a half-acre produce garden and greenhouse on site where lettuces and herbs will be grown, our chef works hard to find local farmers as partners in producing a menu oriented towards fresh and seasonal specialties.

Our wide variety of fresh selections from our unique menu will guarantee that everyone in your party leaves with a smile.

We love the Williamsburg Winery and the Tavern. The setting, service and food were exceptional! The pork chop and sauce were delicious to the last bite and the halibut was perfectly cooked and delicious. I had the panna cotta with blueberry sauce which was oh so good and fresh. For wine definitely recommend a glass of the cremant sparkling wine to start or one of their cocktails. Our server David was excellent as were all the other staff. Very attentive. Highly recommend the Tavern for a date night, celebrations or other special occasion.

I genuinely don’t have enough words to express how happy my husband and I were with every part of our experience here. The staff was beyond accommodating, the ambiance absolutely charming and the food, the food was out of this world. My husband ordered the bone in pork chop and the only downfall is we live in Minnesota and can’t come back to regularly have it. I had no idea pork could taste like that. It literally melted in our mouth. If you’re reading this review and on the fence about booking, take this as a sign. It was the highlight of our trip! Thank you again to the wonderful staff!

We always enjoy a great meal and the service is excellent. Our only wish would be some additional choices on the dinner menu.

It was an exceptionally lovely day and we were fortunate to get a table outside. Every single item on the menu looked appealing and everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Service was excellent. .

I will start by saying the property is fantastic. It’s on site at The Williamsburg Winery, and the seating outdoors is very inviting, serene, and enjoyable. I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the food, however. We have eaten here many times in the past and the menu and food were both amazing. I don’t know if there is a new or different chef, or what the problem was last night, but the food was nothing short of horrible. We had the pork chop and crab cake dinner entrees. The pork chop was raw. I say that as someone who travels and dines often, and understands that pork should not and does have not to be well done. That being said, the pork chop we were served was nearly raw. It was literally pink and cold throughout. The server ( also clearly not in the right “day job”, returned it to the kitchen where it was noticeably just thrown back on the grill and cooked to death in a failed effort before being covered up with more sauce in an attempt to “make us happy”). The other entree, the crab cakes were even worse, as hard as that was to believe. I understand that not all crab cakes are considered equal, and we weren’t at Le Yaca, but these were truly the worst I have had in a long time. The chef added some kind of really bizarre ( almost artificial in flavor) lemon flavor. It was so overwhelming and offensive that I left nearly the entire dish on the plate. Truly not edible. The sides for the dishes were mashed potatoes ( pork chop) , which were also the same potatoes that came out originally with the raw pork. The least they could have done was add fresh after returning to the table, and cheese grits with the crab cakes. The grits were honestly the only thing on the table that were worth eating. Frankly, the only redemption in the entire meal was the Triannon Cab Franc and the pretty, Edison bulb lit patio with a nice early Fall breeze. We will return, but perhaps only for cocktails and the mussel appetizer. Please change whoever prepared this meal.

We stayed at the Wedmore Place for our 1st anniversary and went to the Gabriel Archer for dinner. The food was great, we were given complimentary champagne for our special occasion and the staff was so kind! We will definitely return.
