we were put in too confined a space when there was so much available seating! we were right in the face of our neighboring table. further our waitress was not warm at all!! not a smile on her face but left a sour taste in our mouths even though food was great!!!

This is the best Japanese restaurant in the Boston area. Place is clean with excellent decoration, staff is very professional, and the food is simply the best. Highly recommended

Service was terrible, our server seemed new as he didn’t seem knowledgeable about the menu items and seemed like he was overwhelmed with tables as he was out of breath and kept touching his hair and face and apologizing to us. Halfway through dinner my boyfriend started to feel sick (most likely not from the food) so we decided to pack up our food. Before leaving I remembered that my meal came with mochi, I asked the server about it and told me that it came on the plate but made sure to tell me he saw it on the plate and it was the “colorful things on the plate.” But maybe he forgot to put it in that bag… which he did! There was nothing colorful on the plate, however there was a coconut jello that the server says was the mochi and that mochi does not have ice cream… I just said ok. The manager later explained that depending on the day, the meal can sometimes come with mochi or some sort of jello. I wish this was indicated before ordering (or on the menu) as I love mochi! I ate the rest of my food when I got home and found plastic in the ribeye kettle rice. Even though the food was alright, finding plastic in the rice made me not want to return. Also, I booked on open table and the only option I was given was to book a room with a $25/person deposit. When we got to the restaurant it was pretty dead so I don’t understand why we couldn’t book a regular table. The way the booking is setup is misleading and forces you to book the “experience” so you have to put down a deposit that isn’t later applied to the bill, but will be returned to your card after dinner. This experience was overall not enjoyable.

food is exceptional no matter what your preference. friendly service and private places to sit. perhaps the best mai tai if you aren’t up for sake. truly top notch and worth the premium price.

Went to the place twice as it looks nice. But half of the restaurant was empty and both times they put us in a far away location which looked weird. Also the same waiter Julia was waiting our table twice and she was persistent with us buying alcohol and then practically throwing the check on our table before we have asked for it. It was my birthday but my guests felt that we had to leave all the time with the waiter asking us when are we leaving. Never going to recommend or go to this place again. Sad we had to leave 18% tip but that seemed like we had to.

This is always a terrific Japanese restaurant. The fish is fantastic, the seaweed salad is always one of my favorites and the edamame is the best! The service was very special. We enjoyed ourselves greatly, especially my son who is visiting from Arizona. He always suggests this restaurant whenever he is in Boston.

Everything was great, but, we ordered the Fugakyu Boat which is a great offering of sushi, and nigiri, etc., good for 3 persons. But it wasn't like the past, there was less food.

They still got it! I haven’t been to the original Fugaku because there was one closer to my home in Sudbury. However, that one closed nine months ago. It was nice to return to an old friend. Service was impeccable, food delicious in the environment, calm and relaxing. I can’t wait to go back, and you should try it too!
