Utilizing the chef’s simple yet high quality approach, the fresh, seasonal local ingredients of Connecticut are transformed into beautifully inspired dishes. Our Local Food Commitment allows us to work with local farmers and artisans to ensure the quality of locally grown ingredients from the sea, land and soil. These fresh ingredients and vibrant tastes of Fresh Salt are available daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Located right on the water means seriously fresh seafood and our menu definitely delivers. This is a very fine place to eat. The food was excellent and we had breathtaking views of the river.

Food was absolutely delicious. So pleasantly surprised. We were staying at the hotel and picked the restaurant mostly out of convenience and were very, very impress with the food, ambiance and overall experience. Would absolutely recommend and cannot wait to go back again!

Although it was Labor Day weekend and it was crowded, we were seated right away, service was excellent, great options on menu, food was delicious! Atmosphere was fun. We'll be back. Thank you.

Lovely lunch at Fresh Salt yesterday. Particularly enjoyed siting in the enclosed patio with an open window facing the marina. I had the lobster roll which was great and my partner had the clam chowder, which was fine. A memorable experience and we will be back

Fantastic meal . Service was friendly, anticipatory, not hovering. Food was very special. Delicious, imaginative, and beautifully presented. Even the decaf coffee was excellent. Great wine list.

Food and service at Fresh Salt were great! Lobster Roll was terrific. The Choo Choo lounge needs management and wait staff training. Distracted and not attentive, no napkins with drinks, and some nuts or something with the drinks would improve your business. Same with the Saybrook Resort Hotel. Bathrooms and carpet need attention. And for $500 per night maybe a couple of 20 cent Poland Spring waters in the room?

Food and ambience was great, and food was delivered in a timely manner. However the server was never seen from the time she took our order until 10 minutes after we finished our entrees. Not even a cursory stop to ask how our food was, much less asking if there was anything else we needed. Usually the staff is very attentive here, offering bread, refills of water, and checking to see if everything was satisfactory, but tonight our server disappeared until it was time to bring the check. Maybe this was a one off, but we will hesitate before we dine here again.

I will never go back here again. This was a challenge on so many levels. I will highlight a few. First, the server was inattentive and unskilled. Simple things went undone. Second, is the food. I ordered the Shrimp and Scallop Ceviche. I am very familiar with this dish and know how it should be prepared. It looked more like "soup" than ceviche. Worse yet, there was at most (maybe) one full shrimp and one scallop. Very poor. I also ordered two of what were supposed to be very large "Wild Shrimp" cocktail. They were rubbery and with a price tag of $6 each, I would have expected much better. The crown jewel, however, was the grilled whole fish: black seabass. I truly enjoy this fish and often get it prepared whole in other restaurants. As I was eating it and pulling the flesh off the bone I started noticing red blood! I then revealed some of the "guts" of the fish remaining. All of which were definitely uncooked! I called the server over and asked him if he could kindly ask the chef if this is the "way it is supposed to be prepared." I had no intention of eating any more of this so he actually brought the dish back to the kitchen. He returned with an affirmative answer: "Yes. That is the way it is supposed to be prepared." That did it. No credit. No offer to make it better. That was the thing that sealed the deal. No return trip for me. Obviously they do not care.
