Food was very good, meaning we will return for special occasions. Prices in-line with the interesting food combinations. Service a little slow owing to servers having many tables. Great ambiance.

The service, drinks and food were impeccable! Do yourself a favor and try this small town gem! We will definitely come back again.

I have been going to Fortify since they opened. Over the years it has remained a constant must go spot with Company and for a well earned night out. Tonight was the first time I was disappointed. I had to send my Cocktail back two times because there was caked on debris inside the glass. It was black, and grossly unsettling. At first, I thought it was in the ice cube, but it was not. It was caked on the inside of the bar glass. you would think that the bar man would check the glass before sending it out again, but the second one also had the same cake on debris. My Caprese salad was excellent, not one complained there, but my entry was subpar. I ordered the grits bowl which has always been one of my favorites. Its size had decreased from prior visits, but that’s no surprise in this world and that can hardly be held against them. my complaint with the grits was that they were not hot, the sauce was not hot, the shrimp were barely cooked, and the chicken had obviously been previously cooked, but was sitting somewhere so that the breading was soft, and pulled away from the chicken that was cool. All in all a very disappointing evening. I will think twice about going back.

I really want to like this place but it was just ok. We did enjoy the orka app as well as the Gouda fritters. We both had the Grit Bowl as our entree. It just wasn’t inspiring at all. I didn’t detect a hint of truffle or anything else in the grits. The fried chicken tender was fine but what’s a chicken tender doing there in the first place? The shrimp had zero flavor. They were just steamed (?) shrimp laid on top of the grits. It was just a very bland and fairly tasteless dish. Service was good. Just overall disappointed in the food.

A real reminder of what gourmet food is like. I had the duet of duck, my companion had the crab cakes, and we each had an appetizer. Even the house breads at the very start were outstanding. The cooking, presentation, sauces and herbs were all top-notch.

We had heard about this place and were anxious to try it. We were not disappointed. The menu choices were interesting. The food and service were the equal of anything in nearby Highlands, NC, but without the exorbitant prices, pretense and crowding. We will definitely be back soon. And we will also tryout their pizza parlor next door.
