Depuis 1746, le même bâtiment qui accueille la taverne Black Powder Tavern a joué un rôle dans la création de la nation. Il servait d'abord de lieu de repos pour les voyageurs en diligence qui rejoignaient l'Ouest, avant de devenir un endroit de rendez-vous clandestin pour George Washington, le marquis de La Fayette et d'autres héros de la révolution américaine.
Le bruit court que durant le terrible hiver de 1777-1778, à Valley Forge, le stratège militaire Friedrich Von Steuben, une figure majeure de l'armée continentale, avait choisi la taverne comme cache secrète pour les munitions de poudre noire des messagers de l'Armée continentale. À cette époque, la taverne continuait de fournir la nourriture, l'abri et la joie de vivre aux soldats fatigués et affamés qui luttaient pour leur indépendance.

Hook & Ladder is the unexpected steakhouse you’d never thought you’d find in the historic, original firehouse of the Washington Fire Company. This is a one-of-a-kind Skybar experience allowing guests a close view of our 149 year old firehouse, bell tower and original stained glass windows. A unique cross between a chop house and Crudo bar, Hook & Ladder features Certified A5 Japanese wagyu beef that will melt in your month. Dry aged Steak offerings including 32 days dry aged Porterhouse (28oz), 32 days aged Tomahawk Ribeye (40oz) that will taste decidedly beefy, much like a rare roast beef, while also taking on subtler hints of other delicious flavors. Crudo uses the Japanese technique of curing the fish making it more tender and flavorful. Finishing it with lime, lemon, and soy; featuring Wild King Salmon, Japanese Madai, Hamachi and more. Enjoy the purest and fresh take on some classic cocktails.
You may join us Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings in our picturesque Manor House Dining Room for a pre-fix three-course dinner prepared by Executive Chef Dan Wood. The Burgess is a new restaurant located at historic Jeffersonville Golf Club in Norristown. Our Kitchen, helmed by Norristown native Kyle Edmonds, stresses a balance between comfort and fine dining. Using the backbone of modern bar food with a twist, the food is fresh and exciting. This is not just a space for an after-round drink and snack. The bar is focused on craft beer and signature cocktails. Seasonal and rotating to keep things fresh for guests and the staff.
