Sète (named after the coastal town in France) is a wine bar, shop, and kitchen. Our doors opened to the wine bar in October 2022 and the restaurant and garden in July 2023. The seasonal menu focuses on modern European cooking with a heavy French influence, highlighting the best produce Kent has to offer. Wine is certainly at the heart of what we love. With an ever evolving list that highlights old world classics, accessible natural wines, female winemakers and exciting next generation vintners. We also serve a seasonally changing list of wine on tap and host private tastings. Behind Sète is Natalia Ribbe who has worked across restaurants in Vienna, NYC and London, as well as the founder of the female collective; L.O.R. In the kitchen is Head Chef Billy Stock who joins us from The Rose Inn in Wickembraux, St. John, The Marksman and Rochelle at the ICA to name a few. Our magical conservatory restaurant is set amid Updown’s rambling grounds. Dine under the grape vines surrounded by beautiful 17th century brick and watch the chefs in the open kitchen tending to the wood fired grill and original farm house bread oven. The restaurant has been completely transformed by owners Ruth and Oli to be heated and fully enclosed and is open year round.Menus will be small, hyper seasonal and use the best of local and European produce and change on regular basis to reflect what’s best. Everything is cooked over wood in the open kitchen. There is a short list of exciting wines of limited availability, local beers and seasonal cocktails.On Wednesday nights in place of our à la carte we cook a Steak Night menu , priced at £30 per person for 3 courses. On Sunday nights the restaurant is closed but we serve a light supper for hotel guests in the Farmhouse.

The Michelin Starred, Fordwich Arms, located in the smallest town in England, dates as far back as 1828. Daniel and Natasha Smith took over The Fordwich Arms in 2017 and were awarded a Michelin Star within the first year, as well as being in the top 100 gastro pubs in the UK, multiple culinary awards, notable wine awards and various other accredits, a testament to their hair work and talent. The seasonal menus focus on provenance, showcasing the best of local Kentish ingredients, sourced directly from local farms and producers. Our stunning restaurant overlooks Pegwell Bay and includes alfresco dining on our sundeck terrace.     An absolutely lovely restaurant. Super ambience, very French brasserie feel. All sharing plates if required and everything tasted exceptional, simple and extraordinary quality produce . First visit but will definitely recommend to everyone I know for sure.

    Fabulous food Flavours unexpected but worked so well Best Minestrone soup ever ! We had Turbot with citrus sauce ( who knew ) brilliant flavours ! Service great , A really good “ farmhouse vibe “ Relaxed but cool and stylish Maybe bit drafty?? . There were heaters above which were timed we think but sitting near wall with vine coming through and breeze around feet and legs ,, !, but we’re old so feel it more keenly than others younger end !! When we came in a lot of smoke in space but it cleared after 45 minutes. But no lingering after smells and we quite liked the ambience smoke gave !! We will be back !! Brilliant place -👍

    Excellent evening out. Very relaxed with a good spread of dishes which were very nice. Service was good. We really like this place for a really nice casual evening out.

    Fab service and great food - the Sunday roasts were enormous but so tasty we found our way through them! Service excellent, attentive and friendly, and a great vibe for us and the kids for a lovely afternoon.
