And boy did he also talk about and stress the importance of “Traditions”. He often said…. “When I pass they’ll be no more traditions in this family”. Well here at Nunzis we plan on keeping his traditions alive. You will eat with us, drink with us and laugh with us. Families and Friends all enjoying delicious food, fine drinks, good music and making memories. For those of you that never got a chance to meet “Nunzi”, these were the memories that he lived for and the nights we know he never wanted to end.

Grotta di Fuoco, which translates to Fire Cave, is an industrial, rustic space with subtle lighting, raw steel, reclaimed wood, and concrete finishes. Step inside, descend below street level, and enter our vision of a cave. As for the fire, our focal point is a wood burning oven right next to the bar. You can sit close enough to feel the warmth, hear the crackle, and smell the scent of food being cooked, all while being entranced by the open flame. In 1688, Joseph Haviland built a tidewater gristmill that provided the locally-grown grains to a nearby bakery that supplied farmers and tradesmen with bread. It was the first public oven in New York State. Haviland’s Old Grist Mill and the public bakery were community gathering places for two centuries. Inspired by Joseph Haviland’s noble efforts, the Haviland Kitchen & Bar has been established for our neighbors.
