Gin & Cocktail Bar The original 1840s sandstone walls of the building Frank Mac’s now occupies a 120-person capacity bar which flows from outdoor seating on George Street, across two levels and into a back courtyard. Whereas the downstairs space feels cosy and intimate, dotted with vintage leather banquettes, dark jade and light orange velvet armchairs, low tables and a fireplace, the ground level you’ll walk into off George Street will reflect the energy of the bartenders working behind the almost five-metre-long oak bar. Booked online, at first I was confused with the time slot that was available. On arrival the restaurant wasn’t overly busy. However the food & service soon made up for the time slot.

We were there for my birthday dinner last night, food was excellent and the waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The only thing I did not like were the little bowls the sauce came in, when you poured the sauce it spilled over the sides and made a mess, the servers did not say which sauce was which and they were mixed up. Other diners were cold although it was the middle of summer and had heaters in which was uncomfortable for me. The food is excellent although some things I thought were a bit pricey. Overall it was an enjoyable night and the tomahawk steak was delicious so were the chicken wings!
