The Bird in Hand is a friendly independently owned and operated pub in the village of Mayford. Whether you are looking for a casual drink, formal get together, delicious Sunday roast or a beer in our lovely garden area we have you covered.We offer a great selection of beers, wine & cocktails that can be paired with our fresh seasonal menus served in our formal dining area, casual bar area or large sunny garden. We are proud to have a passionate and dedicated team who are here to help you enjoy your experience with us. We are dog friendly in our bar and garden areas. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children of any age may dine with us but must vacate the premises by 8pm.

The menu will offer daily, hyper-seasonal specials, and plenty of British game, meat and fish. Executive chef and owner, Jamie Dobbin is passionate about local sourcing and traditional dishes, such as Half dozen Porthilly rock oysters with shallot dressing, Brixham King scallops with burnt butter cauliflower and caviar or Portland hogget Shepherd’s pie with grilled cutlet. Serious meat lovers can expect 45 day aged native and rare breed steak on offer as well as a hero dish of Beef Wellington for two. Fish is of course wild, sustainable, and British, sourced from day boats on the South coast with the daily catch delivered straight to the door in a matter of hours. There is a handsome bar menu too, and as always, Sunday roasts are a big fixture on the menu every week.

Adam’s take on a traditional British pub, The Loch & the Tyne is open 5 days a week, from Wednesday to Sunday.
