The Bear of North Moreton is a welcoming village pub in North Moreton, South Oxfordshire that dates back to the 16th century and has always been the heart of the village. We offer a humble menu of traditional home-cooked pub dishes, using the best local producers and seasonal ingredients. We serve a range of ales, beer, and cider and have a small and curated wine list. There’s a large beer garden that backs onto the village cricket pitch, and we hope to open up the Aunt Sally pitch soon.

Cooking over a central grill makes for great theatrical cooking from our open-plan kitchen, overseen by Head Chef Nick Galer. Whilst a subtle Basque feel will permeate throughout, its roots are firmly founded on those of a classic English pub – so while featuring top end Basque dishes fit for a destination dinner, it also offers simple pub snacks for a light lunch… while the food may be inspired by the Basque country, the ingredients are local… and while the wines may be sourced from Iberia, the beer is very much English.The crowning glory is the sensational open kitchen, with a huge, CHARCOAL FIRED parilla grill and a BRICK OVEN as its centrepiece and all in front of the guests – very visual and very theatrical. Our second visit within the last month, and this time in the Dining room with direct view of the kitchen - a great improvement on the previous setting. Again we shared the slow cooked shoulder of lamb , this is going to become our favourite dish.

Nice location and ambience, it got a bit busier and noisier when more people came in. Food was very nice. A bit disappointing that several of the mains did not come with potatoes and the only choice of sides was chips or mac n cheese; mash or roast potatoes would have gone better with our choices of mains
