Oma's Hideaway is a vibrant, maximalist restaurant inspired by the life and spirit of Chef Thomas Pisha Duffly's grandmother, Kiong Tien “Tina” Vandenberg. Her ability to adapt, to make the most out of limited resources, and to stay creative while projecting warmth and brightness is the guiding force behind Oma’s Hideaway.Born during the pandemic as a pop-up in the Gado Gado parking lot, Oma’s became a permanent beacon of iridescent light in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood in 2021. The menu draws from Tina’s life story, taking influence from the craveable, soul-satisfying hawker food of Singapore and Malaysia and “turning up the volume” with exaggerated yet balanced flavors in Chef Tom’s signature style. Oma’s serves dinner accompanied by a seasonal list of hand-crafted cocktails and zero-proof drinks.

Bar Dolly, a new wine and cocktail destination from the Sesame Collective Restaurant Group, serves as a companion bar to next door sister southern Italian restaurant Dolly Olive. Bar Dolly offers anextensive collection of Mediterranean wines, and regional dishes. The spritz menu includes Italian classics like Aperol spritzes and Bicicletas and the house Negroni is an instant classic, poured tableside. Bar Dolly shares a kitchen with Dolly Olive, which centers around Southern Mediterranean ingredients and flavors, with an emphasis on an in house bakery program, fresh made pastas and other dishes that are treated simply and presented elegantly.     The olives and the focaccia were delicious. Overall, the mains were average with the meatballs being the standout. The the others had too much going on with thick sauces. Portions were small, but not miniscule. Dessert was outstanding. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was pleasant. The space was smallish, but the mix of bar, tables, railing and booths worked well. Overall a decent experience, but I wouldn't go back.

    The staff is welcoming. The food is insanely good. The drinks are blended to perfect taste and delivery. Not a single miss on the desert menu. This place is a must.

    In spite of the snowy weather, we are so glad we kept our Valentines Day reservation. The staff had gone all out to make the evening a special VD celebration! The food was delicious and came out beautifully served. Our cocktails were terrific too. Our server was helpful and friendly, and provided great service even on this busy night. Thank you for the red rose flower…a nice treat!
