L'établissement Harwood Arms a rouvert ses portes en septembre 2008 après des travaux de rénovation nécessaires. Ce havre de paix rural situé au cœur de Fulham est né d'une collaboration entre Brett Graham du célèbre restaurant Ledbury, Mike Robinson du pub prisé Pot Kiln se trouvant dans le Berkshire rural et Edwin Vaux de la brasserie réputée Vaux. L'idée est de proposer aux Londoniens un lieu vraiment décontracté pour déguster les meilleurs produits britanniques dans des plats au goût inégalable, accompagnés d'une excellente bière et d'un verre de vin, le tout à un prix intéressant.

Le Mr Chow a ouvert le jour de la Saint-Valentin en 1968. Conçu par Michael Chow, il est encore l'un des plus beaux restaurants de Londres. Le décor, avec des œuvres d'art originales, des murs laqués et des planchers en marbre blanc, est d'un luxe décontracté. Le Mr Chow sert une combinaison de recettes authentiques et originales de Pékin, ainsi que des nouveaux plats innovants, des spécialités telles que les crevettes vertes, le Ma Mignon et les nouilles Mr Chow, toutes créées par des chefs renommés. Le menu propose aussi un excellent canard laqué et une variété emballante de plats végétariens. Au cours de la soirée, le chef vous propose un divertissment alors qu'il manie avec brio la confection des nouilles de Pékin. Reconnu comme une institution à Londres, le Mr Chow attire des générations de jeunes gens branchés en servant une nourriture sans cesse excellente, préparée par le chef John Wu et sa brigade. « Tout est impeccable, très bien, savoureux... un triomphe! Ce fut un bon repas, c'est le moins que l'on puisse dire », en a rapporté Michael Winner du Sunday Times. Le prix moyen pour un souper est de 60 GBP.

Décoration remarquable, présentation des plats très raffiné et élégante dans une belle vaisselle, cependant les saveurs sont juste bonnes sans plus. Le service est rapide, efficace, mais pas chaleureux et la musique un peu forte. Un peu trop cher pour le rapport qualité prix.

C’était mon premier Omakase et ça valait le coup. C’était exceptionnel, les chefs nous expliquaient la provenance de chaque aliments et les préparaient devant nous. Si vous avez l’occasion, il n’y a pas à hésiter. Je vous recommande Juno omakase.
