The Beetle and Wedge Boathouse is tucked away, and perfectly positioned on the most stunning part of the River Thames. The Beetle has played a huge part in many lives over the years and is steeped in literature history, from the Wind in the Willows, to Three Men in a Boat and not forgetting HG Well’s Mr Polly it has truly fascinated all that have discovered its true beauty. Our owner, Ben, has ensured that its character and charm has remained while adding his own magical touch.

Cooking over a central grill makes for great theatrical cooking from our open-plan kitchen, overseen by Head Chef Nick Galer. Whilst a subtle Basque feel will permeate throughout, its roots are firmly founded on those of a classic English pub – so while featuring top end Basque dishes fit for a destination dinner, it also offers simple pub snacks for a light lunch… while the food may be inspired by the Basque country, the ingredients are local… and while the wines may be sourced from Iberia, the beer is very much English.The crowning glory is the sensational open kitchen, with a huge, CHARCOAL FIRED parilla grill and a BRICK OVEN as its centrepiece and all in front of the guests – very visual and very theatrical.
