Family owned since 2005, we are a unique and independent restaurant. Among our more popular dishes are the parillada for two, Spanish fish stew, crab and chorizo tagliatelle, and Tunisian chicken.
All of our menu items are inspired by Asian cuisine and have been created by Chef Patron Alex Boyd, after studying authentic Asian cuisine in Hong Kong. Sourcing only the best ingredients, we also have a variety of skilfully made handcrafted cocktails, carefully selected wines, and beer to choose from. Whether you’re ordering a multi-course meal or grabbing a drink and a snack, Kumquat's lively, casual yet upscale atmosphere makes it perfect for dining with friends, family, clients and business associates. Water Lane is a restaurant based within a working market garden in the High Weald of Kent. Guided by the seasons, our menu reflects its sense of place in the English countryside where we grow our own vegetables and use local suppliers. Our ever changing menu is simple but prepared with imagination and care by our Head Chef Jed Wrobel and his team. The Good Food Guide 2023 describes us as 'A contender for one of the most charming eateries in Kent, it's pretty much impossible to resist the lure of this rural restaurant tucked away in a delightful walled garden...' We are open Friday to Sunday 10am - 4.30pm, serving breakfast 10am to 11.30am and lunch 12pm - 3pm. We serve dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings between 6pm - 8.30pm. Our restaurant is currently located in the Carnation House glasshouse. We welcome well behaved dogs on a leash in our garden.

Fresh, locally sourced ingredients are combined, expertly cooked and served in our stylish, yet welcoming surroundings. Our meals are our pride and joy. We have a passion for creating a complete dining experience. We take the time to prepare our food from wholesome produce for our guests - no fast food, no corner cutting and are confident you’ll find it well worth waiting for.
Our menus show flair and imagination; never sacrificing taste and satisfaction. Our chef is committed to supporting local businesses and produce: Moon’s Green, Wealden Smokery, Park Farm butchers, Maws Fine Foods-Hawkhurst, Bodiam ice-cream to name but a few.
We are a country Gastropub owned by farmers. Our farm supplies the beef, lamb and pork and we source other ingredients from local producers where we can. Our small seasonal menu changes regularly reflecting what is available in our area. We pride ourselves on being very much a country pub, offering freshly prepared seasonal food and a warm welcome. We also love offering locally produced drinks, such as gins, rums, ales and wines, giving you the complete taste of Sussex. Our weekend menu is our delicious Asado Grill. A slightly reduced but very tasty BBQ menu, where everything is cooked on our outdoor grill. We advise to book in as we get very busy!
