Nestling in the heart of the beautiful Kentish Weald-the Garden of England, the Star and Eagle Hotel is located in the village of Goudhurst. Standing over 400ft above sea level, there are outstanding views of the surrounding orchards and hop gardens for which the area is renowned.
Dating back to the 14th century, the Star and Eagle has played a significant role in the local history, and was once reputed to have been an ancient monastery. Relics of the vaulted stonework of the period are still visible in some parts of the building. During the 18th century the Inn became the headquarters of the "Hawkhurst Gang", who robbed and terrorised the surrounding district, and planned smuggling raids. Today, behind its attractive timbered gables, the Star and Eagle offers all the comfort and facilities of a 20th century hotel with the charm and atmosphere of a bygone era. Open throughout the year, the Star and Eagle is less than three miles off the main A21 road with easy access.
The White Hart Wadhurst is an award winning pub with rooms set in the beautiful village of Wadhurst, around 10 minutes from Tunbridge Wells and a 50 minute train journey from London and right next to Bewl Water. Our food is as local as it can be and is a mix of small plates, great charcuterie, local cheeses, pub classics and more refined dishes. We run weekly offers, Monday is Locals NIght where you can enjoy two courses for £16, Tuesday is Steak Night with two steaks and a bottle of wine for £35 and finally Wednesdays fish and chips is £12.50. Sunday is all about our roast dinners, all served with traditional trimmings and jus, vegan and vegetarian available on request. We have a great selection of spirits, beers including Harveys and a extensive wine list. We love our English wines and currently have one of if not the biggest English Wine List in the UK, currently standing at 165 wines from all over the country.
