Sakura was established in 2009 as the first Japanese restaurant in Portsmouth. Staff were very good - our server paid particular attention to my fussy eater Grandson to make sure he was enjoying his food and offering him alternatives. Food was great and we all enjoyed it. Perhaps add a dessert that’s dairy free - the polenta cake was a bit grainy!

Every time we come here we are blown away by the quality of the food, it’s truly outstanding, service is really efficient and the fact that it’s always busy speaks volumes as to its reputation!

Booking was easy through open table, however it didn’t book us for the bottomless brunch I was expecting to be booked for! However Delaneys were very accommodating! Our waitress Dolly was outstanding and made our experience very enjoyable

The fish soup was great unfortunately the steak was not good half of it was rare and half was medium it all should have been medium rare. It was taken off the bill but I would have preferred a perfectly cooked steak. Pistachio soufflé was as good as it always is but the crumble lacked crumble on top and there was not enough custard Service was very good. Overall it was a shame the food wasn’t great today.
