Lulu Bar is an escape from the ordinary. Its welcoming vibe is reminiscent of hidden gems from your last vacation, only better because it’s right here in your own backyard. With a healthy, Pacific-inspired menu, Lulu’s wood-fired food is light and fresh — but heavy on flavour.Chef Joseph Sokoloff’s fare is a tribute to the Pacific Ocean and many of the regions that touch it, with influences from Asia to Hawaii, California to British Columbia. Lulu’s fun, light, and refreshing drink menu is equally well-travelled. Its wine, beer, and creative cocktail offerings will make you feel like you’re far from home — and we like that.

The Japanese film Tampopo was marketed as the world’s first “ramen western”. It’s the story of two truck drivers, Goro & Gun, who use their culinary expertise to change the fate of a struggling noodle shop. Those two characters' passion for noodle-making lives on at Calgary’s 150-seat noodle bar — led by executive chefs Ryusuke Araki & Tomo Mitsuno. Located inside Stephen Avenue Place, upstairs on the Plus 15 level, the restaurant melds modern art graphics with distinctive hardwood and right angles of Japanese decor. Tuck into a steaming bowl of ramen with our house-made noodles, made even better with an aji-tama egg. Or depart from noodle fare with house specialities like tuna poke or pork steam buns. Our menu boasts a variety of vegetarian, gluten, and dairy-free options. Whenever possible, dishes are prepared using wild fish instead of farmed. Complete your meal with one of 25 sakes from Goro & Gun’s curated selection from Amanda Jansen.
Located inside the Westley Hotel in the heart of Downtown Calgary, Fonda Fora is an exciting new contemporary Mexican restaurant brought to you by the folks at Thank You Hospitality. Food and Beverage Magazine 30 under 30 winner, Chef Emilio Montenegro has crafted a menu based on his upbringing in Northern Mexico and his journey in kitchens across the world. Much of our concept is based around the heirloom corn of Mexico. We import four types of corn from a collective of heirloom farms in Mexico in order to provide the best product we can. We process this corn from raw and turn it into masa for dishes all across our menu, like our Sope, Tamal, and of course, Tortillas. There is a saying in Mexico that we live by at Fonda Fora: "Sin maiz no hay pais," meaning without corn, there is no country. Maiz is the lifeblood of Mexican cuisine, and we are excited to present it to you as it should be.
