Part of the historic Buckhurst Estate, the pub is named after the Earls and Dukes of Dorset, one time heads of the Sackville family, and shares a heritage of family ownership now headed by their descendant, the present Earl De La Warr.Showcasing the best of what Sussex has to offer, our Head Chef has fine-tuned the classics and combined them with modern British dishes to provide a diverse and exciting menu.
We are located in the wonderful village of Groombridge. Just a stones throw from the iconic Groombridge Place and only a 10 minute drive from Tunbridge wells Our is also available for hire and we have an amazing private space perfect for celebrations. There are plenty of activities on our doorstep with wonderful walks and the picturesque Forest Way trail close. Groombridge also benefits from having Harrisons Rocks for keen climbers and the perfect cycling routes across the Ashdown Forest. If this all sounds too energetic then just relax and chill watching the cricket from our front terrace, perfect for a lazy weekend afternoon.

Welcome to The Warren Restaurant, an extension of The Crowborough Estate, holding stock of Sussex Cattle, Boer Goats, Fallow deer, and Wild boar amongst others which the restaurant draws on for its menu. We are a Dog Friendly restaurant. Given the provenance, the kitchen predominantly cooks British food, occasionally dipping into other cuisines to provide a vehicle for flavours – nettle gnocchi for example, or poached oyster with wild boar chorizo.WE wanted a unique fun and informal restaurant, to offer their Crowborough Estate’s produce from. The Barley Mow Tandridge is managed by an ensemble of local people, passionate about excellent service and memorable experiences. Serving Hall & Woodhouse ales and a wide selection of wines and spirits Stuart and the team will be delighted to introduce you to our cosy country pub and beautiful family garden. Our Head Chef, Jordan Gregory-Astle presents some great specials every Thursday, Friday and Saturday and his Sunday lunches have earned him some great reviews.Please note: Because the Barley Mow is an old Country Inn sadly it is not accessible. There are no toilets that can accommodate a wheelchair, floors are uneven and some of the ceilings are low.
