La Dolce Vita est une entreprise familiale tenue par deux générations. Le « zio » (oncle) Giuseppe Salpietro et son « Nipote » (neveu) Nicola Fuccilli vous invitent à découvrir leur passion pour la cuisine et la culture italienne. L'histoire de La Dolce Vita a débuté il y a cinq décennies dans une petite ville nichée dans les collines de la Sicile. C'est de là-bas que proviennent la cuisine, les traditions et les coutumes authentiques de Giuseppe Salpietro, qui elles sont le fruit de siècles de bonne chère. En 1940, Franklin E. Barmore Sr. a acheté le terrain où est implanté l'actuel Shrimp Box pour en faire un quai de pêche commerciale. La famille Barmore, composée de Frank Sr., Edith et Frank Jr., a géré le quai et le marché attenant de poisson au détail, en vendant et en transportant le poisson le long de la côte Atlantique.
En 1953, Frank Jr. et la maman Barmore (alors veuve) ont décidé d'ouvrir un petit stand de plats de poisson à emporter pour occuper cette dernière. Après plusieurs années, le stand a eu un tel succès qu'il s'est transformé en restaurant de poisson (le hall et une partie de la cuisine actuels) de 36 couverts qui ont remplacé les quatre tabourets d'origine.
Frank Barmore est mort en 1982, laissant le restaurant à sa femme et ses filles.
À la fin de la saison 1999, la propriété du Shrimp Box a été cédée à Nick Gyftakis et George Pappas. Nick et George travaillent ensemble depuis les années 1970. Grâce à leur passé commun de restaurateur, vous êtes sûr de vivre une expérience culinaire inoubliable.
