The Evening Star Cafe is a rollicking neighborhood gem located in the heart of Del Ray. Opened in 1997, Evening Star is well known for its friendly vibe and convivial setting and continues to shine with a fiercely loyal crowd. Evening Star combines friendly, gracious service with a seasonal American menu featuring produce grown on our rooftop garden and by local farmers throughout the region.

The decor is the same but the menu is very different from pre COVID times. It is a streamlined menu offering typical American fare. The cocktail game is still very strong.

Excellent service and the brunch menu was full of yummy sounding dishes that our decision on what to have was difficult. You’ll enjoy whatever you select.

Went to check out the Restaurant week offerings and they delivered. Had a lovely dinner in their outdoor patio. We had the roasted Brussel sprout and grilled watermelon salad as starters, and for entrees the roasted chicken (very juicy) ad the chicken Bah Mi sandwich. Dessert was a flourless chocolate cake and a carrot cake which we ended up taking home and having it for breakfast as their portions were generous. Service was attentive, and the selection of beers was great and the fact they had tasters for all the drafts offerings was fun as we got a little beer tasting by ordering 3 different tasters. Will definitely comeback.

Everything was great. It was very quiet but we were a very early dinner so maybe not typical if you eat at a normal time. Food was wonderful, cocktails as well. Service was on top of all our dumb needs as we were dining with a 4 year old.

We found restaurant week was no real bargain. Most starters plus entrees had ala carte prices of less the $40, so at best you were getting the dessert at a reduced price.

Our group of three had not dined at Evening Star in several years; we picked the right night to return to sample the Evening Star Restaurant Week menu. An extensive selection of appetizers and entrees were available. The generous bowl of gazpacho with crostini was our favorite appetizer, and the grilled salmon over a bed of pureed white beans with cannellini beans and cherry tomatoes was our favorite entree. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining in the Evening Star patio/courtyard.
