Emporio, a rustic Roman-style trattoria, managed by the same team responsible for the successful Aurora Brooklyn and Aurora Soho restaurants, has become another one of their dining destinations known for excellent food delivered in a relaxed and authentic setting.
Literally an Emporio, the restaurant will sell a superior selection of quality Italian provisions offering Italian and local cheeses, artisanal and house cured charcuterie, raw bar, fritti, wood-fired pizzas, homemade pastas and traditional Roman entrees. The menu concept is far ranging and flexible, allowing clients to design a meal suitable for their palette and their price point. In addition to traditional dining service, other options include a glass of wine with antipasti, a family style meal at a communal table or a pizza and prosecco break. Emporio, which means “local grocery store” in Italian, is offering authentic Roman cuisine with an international flair.

    The food was delicious. The charred octopus was okay in my opinion. The bolognese was a great main meal.

    I don’t like to write badly. But I’ve been in the service industry for 25 years. I sat at the bar for 20 minutes while waiting for my party and never was offered a drink or even water. I thought maybe they are just understaffed today. Things happen and perhaps that’s what it was. When we got to our table we ordered promptly apps and entrees. As well as a bottle of wine. The apps came. But the entrees took forever. So much so that myself and my date went through the entire bottle of wine, which we were looking forward to with the pasta ordered. We weren’t going to order another bottle of wine for just the two of us. When I finally spotted the waiter to ask where the entrees were? They responded they were waiting on us to finish the apps. The apps were nearly done and we hadn’t touched it for at least 15 minutes so we can save room for the entrees. So we had to wait some more time before the entrees hit the table. And because the entree took so long we didn’t have time to have dessert before we had to leave for an event. During the course of our meal the table next to was screaming. Now, I understand that is not on the restaurant. But it was so much screaming that the other table on the other side of us complained they couldn’t enjoy their meal or hear themselves talk and were curious how we were doing. Which we responded ‘we are not doing well.’ My experience in the service industry having a conversation with a very loud table is not a fun one, but it’s what I have to do as I recognize the overall affect to my dining area atmosphere. Perhaps it was an off night. Maybe they were understaffed. But it was not a good night for myself and date there overall. I don’t believe I will be coming back.

    Went for Brunch before a matinee. The two eggs Benedict (crab and prosciutto) were outstanding! The poached eggs were perfect. The house gruner at 14 a glass was a bargain. We have also gone for appetizers and pizza at other times. The octopus is phenomenal and the prosciutto and wild mushroom pizza beats many I’ve had in Italy by miles.

    Best Pizzas and pastas. The staff is very kind. I always have great time at Emporio, it’s great for a weeknight dinner or celebration dinner.
