Dukes 92 was originally a stable block for the horses delivering foods off barges to the Merchants warehouse opposite. From these humble begininngs the building now houses Manchester's original bar and grill which has been refurbished and extended three times since its opening in 1991 the space today is informal and airy with the buildings heritage being reflected in a subtle blend of antique furniture and modern fixed seating.
With its most recent refurbishment Dukes can now properly call itself a venue with two bars, three private events spaces, a grill restaurant, excellent smoking facilities, canalside terrace and balcony overlooking the canal basin. Dukes continued appeal relies on its ability to transform from a relaxed, family friendly environment by day to a vibrant and stylish bar and grill by night.
The space has been extended and refurbished since its opening in 1991 and inside its interior combines contemporary features and its trademark antique furniture.

                                                                                                          A little bit disappointed really, we waited at the door to be seated for a good 5-10minutes, it was quiet as it was a Wednesday but because we had booked we thought best to wait because it was my boyfriends birthday and I had spoken to the waiters about a “complimentary brownie”, I thought best to wait so they know who we are , food was lovely and service was nice don’t get me wrong , but it was very slow and we never ended up getting the complementary brownie even though I had spoken to the waitress privately at the start when asking for our menus. I completely understand it was mid week and was a Wednesday but service was so slow I didn’t even realise there was waitress’ on shift if you don’t want to serve mid week then just don’t open. Usually love the surroundings and atmosphere of just being in dukes but not sure we’ll be back after this visit as it was just quite rubbish , sorry!

                                                                                                          Quiet evening in the restaurant as it was just after Christmas and New Year. Staff were attentive but not overbearing. Mauricio was especially helpful and friendly. Starter was excellent, we had 2 sharing plates which were enough for 4 and very tasty. The chicken hanging kebabs, however we’re a little dry.
