The Duke of Wellington Inn is nestled in the tranquil Tyne valley village of Newton just off the A69 near Corbridge, within easy access to Newcastle, Hadrian"s Wall Country, Hexham and Northumberland's National Park. The décor reflects the traditional country inns history but with a modern twist. Existing oak and stone has been enhanced with modern colours, furniture and fabrics, and the theme extends to the bedrooms.
Lunches and dinners are served seven days a week in the bar and dining room. The food provided is traditional British comfort eating to an exceptional standard and makes use of local, seasonal ingredients. A comprehensive range of beers and ales compliments an extensive wine list. The inn experience continues with seven bedrooms providing a very high quality of luxury accommodation. The outstanding views across the Tyne valley provide the ultimate conclusion to a visit to the Duke of Wellington which will stay with you long after you leave.

Enjoyed an impromptu dinner on Monday evening. The restaurant was quite busy. (Quiz night in the bar) Pie of the day and crispy garlic chicken were both very tasty. Waiting staff were friendly and efficient.

Service was very slow and our table wasn’t ready for the time we booked for, I’d say it was about 20 mins before we were seated. I’m presuming this was because the previous guests went over on time, it was very busy which contributed to the ambiance of the restaurant which I thoroughly enjoyed. The food was spectacular. I will certainly be returning.

Very nice dining room with views on the countryside. Vast menu to choose from with excellent elegant renditions of pub classics. Very friendly service as well!

The only thing that slightly affected this lovely visit was the unpredictable weather. It would have been perfect to have a sunny day to enjoy the beautiful location and views from this pub. The food was amazing, ambiance perfect, staff attentive and all at an affordable price. Everything within staff control was great.
