The Duke of Wellington Inn is nestled in the tranquil Tyne valley village of Newton just off the A69 near Corbridge, within easy access to Newcastle, Hadrian"s Wall Country, Hexham and Northumberland's National Park. The décor reflects the traditional country inns history but with a modern twist. Existing oak and stone has been enhanced with modern colours, furniture and fabrics, and the theme extends to the bedrooms.
Lunches and dinners are served seven days a week in the bar and dining room. The food provided is traditional British comfort eating to an exceptional standard and makes use of local, seasonal ingredients. A comprehensive range of beers and ales compliments an extensive wine list. The inn experience continues with seven bedrooms providing a very high quality of luxury accommodation. The outstanding views across the Tyne valley provide the ultimate conclusion to a visit to the Duke of Wellington which will stay with you long after you leave.

Very nice dining room with views on the countryside. Vast menu to choose from with excellent elegant renditions of pub classics. Very friendly service as well!

The only thing that slightly affected this lovely visit was the unpredictable weather. It would have been perfect to have a sunny day to enjoy the beautiful location and views from this pub. The food was amazing, ambiance perfect, staff attentive and all at an affordable price. Everything within staff control was great.

A delightful meal for four, delicious, good quality, sufficient quantity. Slightly marred by having previous to the meal asking for separate bills for the food element and the drinks element, and after the meal it not having been done as "we do not have sufficient tabs open". This was then split with perhaps a little less cheerful attention than one would expect, only to find that the food bill contained an item not ordered or presented, and missing a side order that was ordered and presented. Said bill amended the following morning with grace and apologies.

Have visited this restaurant quite a few times over the years for a big occasion and it has always maintained a reliable and good reputation for an excellent meal at a good price. Will visit again and would recommend.

Have been many times for special days. The food is lovely although I prefer my vegetables cooked rather than al dente. Our table was in a nice position, away from the bigger groups. The only thing which made us feel uncomfortable was a waiter who spoke quite off hand and made us feel as if we needed to vacate our table as quickly as possible. We were already aware of a very elderly, disabled lady who was obviously with her carer who was told they had to move from their table even though they had not had their dessert. I feel this could have been handled very differently and with care and consideration for the condition of the elderly lady. This also made us feel uncomfortable.
