We go here every year during the Christmas season. Even though we make a reservation we have had to wait an additional 30 min beyond our reservation time to be seated. They need to hire additional staff as this shouldn’t happen when you have a reservation. We noticed many open tables so they were obviously understaffed. Maybe they just need new management to get things in order.

Mario served us and he was excellent. I only had two concerns. 1. I was wearing black slacks and requested a black napkin. Mario's assistant said he was not sure if they had black napkins in Duane's; he knew they had them in the other restaurant but that he would have to check. He did eventual bring them. I was just surprised that an establishment such as Duane's did not have black napkins readily available; as they have in the past. 2. We were asked if we were splitting our dinner. We answered yes and we were charged a $20 split dinner fee. Unfortunately; we did not think to ask whether there was a fee to cut our steak in half. Had we been, we would have declined; (that additional $20 would have gone to Mario's tip). However, the Inn Keeper salad I could eat every day, and the 16 oz. ribeye was cooked to perfection. We had a lovely dinner as always.

Absolutly amazing our waiter was awesome, the salmon was the best salmon I have ever had. And the rest of my parties food was awesome too. Thank you for an unforgettable evening.

Favorite steakhouse in Southern California in the historic Mission Inn. Love the ambiance, the service and the food.

While our previous dinners at Duane’s have been amazing, this time it lagged. The service was very slow and the food was cold. The table next to us had a big golden doodle who jumped on the waiter and kept barking. I don’t think it was a service animal, due to its poor behavior. We will still come back, we hope that this was a one time experience.

Awesome: the steaks, lobster bisque, hummus, asparagus, tiramisu, creme brûlée. Just ok: onion soup and creamed spinach. Close to awful: coffee. I guess because it was Christmas day, they were a little short staffed. The servers we had were very friendly and attentive. They were just overwhelmed! Our poor lady server was so flustered for being unable to refill our coffee because she couldn’t find a coffee pot! I am used to servers coming around often enough to check on us; that was a bit scant. They automatically put 20% tip for which I expected above average service. We didn’t get that. Again, it wasn’t the servers’ fault.

We have gone to Duane's for the past 4 years on Christmas Eve. Each of the past years, it has been a wonderful, special experience. This year however, it was awful, in fact so bad, I don't believe we will do it next year. I made reservations months in advance. There has been communication, but nothing about a pre fixe menu until I checked in. In the past there has been one with options. This year there was no option, so if you're not a beef eater, or you have a nut allergy or you have Celiac Disease they cannot accommodate you. No bread at all. Some dried up cream puff was the first course. I believe it came out of the freezer. We were given 1 menu for all of us to glance at, the same for the cocktail menu. Quail was pre-stuffed so if you are gluten free this was not an option. No explanation of the course when it was served. The tart dessert was so hard I had to break it apart with my hands. The restaurant was not full, as it has been in the past. All of this for almost $1200.00. Yikes!
