A modern pub serving a frequently changing menu, available in our dining room, bar, and outside ledges. It's not fine dining, nor is it trying to be. We cook in a way that we as cooks like to eat, so don’t be afraid to share. If you want to pop in for a burger and a pint, feel free to grab any available space in the bar or outside. We accept bookings for tables of up to six people in the dining room.It can be loud and slightly chaotic; at night it is dark. We turn tables because we need to in order to survive and pay the people that make it work, so please don’t be offended if we ask you to wait a moment for your table. Overall experience was good as always at the pub, however the food experience is less positive and appears to have declined in recent times. Ordered a vegan burger, which costs £18 and it was completely overdone and burnt. The burger itself isn't particularly great compared to some better quality plant based ones out there, so this only adds to the poor taste. Overall, great for drinks but very average food (for the price)

The burger is great and even better we were very kindly given fried potatoes with aioli for free - these were to die for and I’m so glad we didn’t miss out on them! Worth every penny

We had a lovely night and loved every bit of The Good Reader. What a transformation of the former pub! It has fantastic athmosphere, very arty and super welcoming. The food is excellent. Highly recommend it!! We will be regulars :)
