A mainstay of Saint Paul and the Lowertown neighborhood, the Black Dog is an unpretentious, all-day gathering spot. Since opening its doors in 1998 as a little coffee bar, the Black Dog has continued to stretch, push, and evolve to serve the growing needs of the ever changing Lowertown community. The café serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, beer, wine, cocktails, as well as espresso and non-alcoholic drinks. A Happy Hour is offered daily from 3-6pm. Patio seating is available in season. The Black Dog is known for live music (Jazz, World, Roots, Bluegrass) most every night and particularly for their Saturday nights. “Saturday Night Jazz at the Black Dog,” which features the best veteran Jazz musicians in the Twin Cities and special opening sets by up and coming jazz talent.
