Helmand Restaurant offers Afghani dishes with a wood-burning oven where the famous flatbread is cooked on one side of the room and an intimate fireplace is on the other side.Helmand Restaurant entrées include tasty choices like qabelee, which is pallow rice baked with chunks of lamb tenderloin, raisins and glazed carrots or mantwo, a homemade pasta shell filled with beef and onions. If you like spicy dishes, try the koufta challow, consisting of beef meatballs with Afghan seasoning sautéed with sun-dried tomato, hot peppers and green peas in a fresh tomato sauce. Al Wadi Boston is a Lebanese restaurant providing the West Roxbury area a unique ethnic food experience. Dinner at Al Wadi Boston can be a thoroughly enjoyable feast with the Mezza variety vegetarian and meat options that both include an amazing array of house specialties and chef selected favorites. Dinner offerings include beef and lamb kebabs, eggplant moussaka and a vegetarian platter. A special delicacy is the pumpkin kibbeh which features two pumpkin puree layers along with spinach, chick peas and onions. Be sure to save room for one of the Al Wadi Boston special desserts including the knefe with its sweet cheese, semolina crust and syrup made from rose water.
