We started Fatto a Mano in Brighton in 2015, serving authentic and affordable Neapolitan pizza, made with fresh ingredients, in a friendly environment. For us, everything starts with our dough. Soft and pillowy, our pizza dough is made fresh every day, using only the best Italian 00 flour, salt, water and yeast. We let our dough prove for at least 24 hours – the slow proving means we’re able to use minimal quantities of yeast, so our pizzas are light and easily digestible. We use carefully selected Italian and local British ingredients from a handful of small, independent suppliers to top our pizzas. Finally, our pizzaioli cook the pizzas in our oven at about 450 degrees, for no more than 90 seconds, in true Neapolitan style.

In 1976 Michael Garman returned to Brighton and opened IL Bistroafter being inspired by the Italian and French culture and cuisineduring his travels to the Provence and the western coast of Italy.His goal was to open Brighton’s first Mediterranean steakhouse.For the first time, Brightonians were able to order fresh pasta,arancini, dry aged beef, tiramisu and negronis.47 years later and now being operated by Michael's son Abe,IL Bistro still stands by the same principles, using local suppliersand produce, fresh ingredients and the best available dryaged British beef. The restaurant is situated in an 18th centuryfisherman’s cottage which we find rather fitting after Michaelspent years in Portofino, Livorno and Saint-Tropez, Europe’smost famous fishing villages.Booking info:Since reopening from covid we ask for a £10 per person deposit in our busier times which gets deducted from your bill at the end of your meal.     Three of us came for lunch, place was busy and a little noisy but didn’t both us too much. Food was really lovely. Two of us had the classic bruschetta to start. Delicious so simple and yet packed with flavour. I had a vegetarian pasta with seasonal veg in a creamy sauce! Sublime! Another had the classic lasagna and said how delicious and just melted in the mouth. Beef steak medallions in a peppercorn sauce with fries my mother loved! The fries are crunchy and yet fluffy! For dessert I had the affogato lovely little pudding and my mother had the passionfruit panna cotta. Thoroughly enjoyed. Overall all delicious and look forward to returning

    We had a very good three course meal I had pate to start my partner had tiger prawns We both had chicken for main course and we both had a dessert i had chocolate brownie while my partner had treacle tart and cream We both had a glass of wine Overall the meal was very good and not over priced

    amazing, really nice staff! We sat outside and it was so pretty. They had the heater on and offered blankets. Such a good experience!

    Excellent on all accounts. Booking advised as it is very busy, and for good reason! Excellent food and service and atmosphere. One person’s calzone took a bit longer to come out and the chef sent free fries whilst we waited. Pizza was the best we’ve had, absolutely delicious. Would never have known my pizza was gluten free! 10/10 will be coming back again!

    It was my first time,but rest of family been before. From the time we walked in to the time we left the service was great. The quality ans size of pizzas was fantastic. Recommend this place to anyone who enjoys real pizzas
