Photo du restaurant Chat Masala

Génial(52)
Prix : raisonnable
• French indian • Bedok
The East Coast of Singapore is known as a haven for Indian food, and once you try Chat Masala you will know why. Employing tasteful colour combinations in a modern setting, with contemporary art adorning the walls, you get the idea this restaurant is not resting on the laurels of standard Indian fare. Instead, classic favourites are taken and twisted by passion, care and fresh ingredients into their perfected versions - Chat Masala is not trying to reinvent the wheel, they are just improving it. Take their butter chicken, for example, is not a bland blob of curry on rice, but rather a rich, silky gravy with an intense, fragrant tomato base, which is served with soft prata flatbread to be dipped and devoured, along with a side of Indian cottage cheese through a delicate spinach paneer sauce. If you haven’t already taken off towards Upper East Coast Road in hunger, book a table now to avoid missing this authentic but unique Indian experience.

“Let’s Meat Here” declares the door of Braserio, a French steakhouse in Singapore. While, as a rule, we would prefer that people refrained from making nouns into verbs, we’re so tickled by this pun we’ll let it slide. So let’s break this down, what does this “meating” entail? Vegans look away now, because Braseiro is a celebration of all things flame-grilled and carnivorous – steaks, beef skewers, chicken and chef (animal-based) specials. Located on Joo Chiat Road in the East Coast district, this Singaporean restaurant is the place to go for a feast of all-things meat. Their homemade fries and fresh salads are also worth a mention, as are the affordable prices. This is neighbourhood dining at its best, casual and rife with succulent flavour. What’s not to love?

There are plenty of places to pick up an Indian meal in Singapore, from the upmarket white tablecloth places of the Downtown Core to the Little India enclave up on Racecourse Road. In Clarke Quay, RAS - The Essence of India tries to do something markedly different to the standard curry house fare. They offer a range of dishes that distinguish them from the norm, with a menu that takes in the whole of India rather than just one region, with lesser known specialities such as kachi mirchi, a curry cooked with green chillies and cashew nut and tandoori lobster, a Singapore seafood taste on the Indian repertoire. Take the train to Clarke Quay metro and wander over the Read Bridge towards the shopping centre, where you can find RAS - The Essence of India on the riverfront, waiting to welcome you in and take your order – just remember to book your table ahead of time.
