They specialized in shoplifting, with some blackmail and extortion thrown in to make them particularly badass.This gang was notable for its longevity and skill in avoiding police detection. Their most notorious leader, Diamond Annie, was known by the London police as "the cleverest of thieves".Forty Elephants funded a life of decadence in London roaring twenties, hanging about the glamorous hotels, bars and theaters they could only dream about before their turn to crime.Glamour was both a goal and a smoke screen for the Forty Elephants, through which they created their own thrilling world of fashion. money, and fame.

Tired of the loosely French inspired humdrum of restaurants popping up across the city of London? Do you like holidays? Do you like cold drinks and warm service? The idea came from a mirror in an antiques market and a love for a more informal approach to dining, the result is a chippy in North London with old church pews bolted to the walls to be leaned on and eaten from. The focus is on fish but the menu transcends fish, mammals and vegetables, leaving no stone unturned in the never ending quest for flavour. Split between two rooms, the front the engine, the kitchen and bar shared by customers as they perch on bar stools and enjoy dinner and a show. I was staying in the hotel recently and decided to dine in the restaurant with my friend. We both absolutely loved the food. We felt the ambience was peaceful. The waiting staff were brilliant. Everyone was so friendly. The price all in was great and not to expensive. Will definitely be back next trip to London

A very buzzy place with great background music at a level that didn't impede chatting. We shared oysters which were delicious, scallops, and bavette steak along with a carafe of white. Service was really good even though the restaurant was full. Need to book as they were full and would recommend.

Nice place, needs smartening up a little. Lick of paint, new tables and chairs. Food was good, but the kitchen couldn't cope with the amount of orders so closed for 45 minutes to catch up. Not the best experience, especially when you are pushed for time
