This Cajun soul food spot located in a mini-mall on East 82nd Avenue has earned its legion of superfans. The restaurant is known for its popular seafood boils, po’boys, and fried or blackened seafood (which the restaurant will gladly smother in étouffée sauce); however, the restaurant’s crawfish étouffée —crawfish tail meat swimming in a buttery sauce of onions, peppers, celery, and garlic — is the people’s favorite.

Le Tapalaya est le premier restaurant de tapas (petits plats) au monde à servir de la cuisine cajun/créole. La cuisine est préparée avec amour et entièrement sur place. Les assiettes sont de petite taille (correspondant à des entrées ou accompagnements) et se prêtent parfaitement au partage et à l'appariement. The Parish is a contemporary American seafood restaurant with a specialty in Southern cuisine. The Parish is, unsurprisingly, located inside an old church. This is how The Parish came to be named, and is one of the reasons it has been so successful. The Parish's menu primarily consists of Cajun and Creole cooking. The first section of the menu is full of nothing but po'boys and includes a catfish, shrimp and oysters. Other menu sections include soup, salad, sides and mains. Main courses here are the delicious chicken & andouille jambalaya, shrimp & oyster gumbo, shrimp etouffe and the New Orleans classic Hoppin' John made with black eyed peas, white cheddar, tomato, red onion and chives.
