The Crown has been welcoming guests for over 600 years. We pride ourselves in being a traditional village inn; a warm welcome awaits. The cosy fireside bar offers the unique ambience of our historic inn, along with traditional ales, lagers and an extensive wine and drinks list.

Whether you are after a light bite, a meal with friends, or sharing a family celebration our oak-panelled restaurant or relaxed lounge provides the perfect setting. Our head chef sources local and seasonal ingredients to deliver fresh, traditional and contemporary dishes for all tastes and dietary requirements. Children are welcomed and can choose from their own seasonal menu.

In warmer months, our sheltered courtyard garden enjoys the full midday sun. The small central courtyard is also available to book by request and offers a lovely private table. Balmy afternoons and evenings will find the front terrace full of diners and drinkers, enjoying the perfect spot for sundowners and watching the world go by.

    Lovely lunch - delicious food, wonderful service, beautiful location and great atmosphere. V cosy on a grey Sunday afternoon.

    Very average. We were with good friends so had a lovely evening but we might have had an even better time somewhere else. We were there early but there was only one portion of the fish special left (7pm on a Saturday, seems very early to be running out of things), mixed bean chilli which was in fact a pleasant stew but definitely no hint of chilli. Once the food had landed we weren't looked after until we wanted the bill and the senior member of the restaurant to team seemed to have had a bad day, or perhaps reserves her smiles for other customers. It was our first visit and we were incredibly easy going so I think a smile in our direction would have been justified. So, all in all it was ok. Not great, but ok. There's a lot of choice out there though so we won't be back.

    Ambience excellent, staff friendly and helpful and food good. After I had paid the bill for the four of us dining I noticed that I had been charged £24 for a round of drinks that we did not have. This I am sure was an innocent mistake and my fault entirely for not checking the bill. I have dined at the Crown Inn many times and it has not happened before.

    Fabulous roast. Absolutely lovely but disappointed by the 90 minute window. Two hours is acceptable but this is not enough time for a relaxed lunch. Something that should be considered for the best experience.

    Delighted to be seated on a nice round table (as requested) in a quiet corner so the eight of us could easily chat to one another. Service & food was all very good, we got everything we requested with no errors. Such a great ambience to entertain visitors to the area.

    What a fabulous way to have dinner in a Friday night. Brilliant atmosphere, fabulous attentive and friendly staff and high class food. All washed down with a top choice of beer and wine .

    Lovely food but service was slow as a big party was in the main restaurant…having said that it did not impact our experience.

    One of the loveliest pubs we’ve ever been too. Sunday roast was amazing. And it’s got lots of space for each table so you aren’t crammed in like a lot of pubs. It’s also a beautiful building and village. The staff were really helpful too.
