Le Columbia est le plus ancien restaurant de Floride, fondé dans l'historique quartier d'Ybor City à Tampa en 1905. Géré et exploité par la même famille depuis plus de 111 ans, il a acquis une solide réputation pour son charme d'antan ainsi que sa cuisine espagnole/cubaine et sa carte de vins primée.     The steak was good but the portions for the paella sangria were small. Croquettes came out burnt too. I wasn’t as impressed as I thought when reading reviews and videos about this place.

    We had a reservation at 7:45pm on a Saturday for 2 whole. When we arrived it was a madhouse outside the restaurant. The woman with the iPad said she couldn’t guarantee we’d be seated any time soon. They didn’t text us that our reserved table was ready until 8:35.

    Where do I begin…This location needs some TLC, organization, deep cleaning and communication improvements. First of all, our visiting friends chose the restaurant. Otherwise, I would’ve left within minutes had it NOT been for their wishes. It was a mosh pit scramble outside to tell the hostess we were there (10 minutes early) for our reservation. She gave no clear instructions on where to go or what to do next except to say they were running behind. There was another hostess station inside so we gave our name again and moved out of the way to the bar area to avoid the crowd. The hostess never gave instructions and was not at all friendly. She just hollered names in our faces for the next party to report to her to be seated. The bar area reminds me of a hoarder’s garage. It’s a big dumping area for nonsense. Where are the chairs in the bar area? We chose to check back to the inside hostess station to see how they will communicate that our table was ready. Once we were texted that the table was ready, there was no where to stand at the inside hostess station. We had to wait another ten minutes shoved into the weird, unnecessary plants or stand in the walkway where it was overly crowded. Once at the table, the acoustics made it difficult to hear. I ordered the chicken and rice, but sadly I agreed to share it with my husband. When it arrived, I was given the neck and one chicken wing while my husband was given the breast and chicken leg. Thanks for the scraps and big plate if rice, Columbia. I jokingly asked the table, “Where are we going after this to eat?” Never again. Hard pass.

    They forgot to bring my soup and needed reminding. My husband's chicken was cold. They are an extremely popular and busy restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. Even with reservations, expect to wait.

    As always-- an outstanding experience. One of our favorite restaurants in the entire world! Every detail in this multiple generation owned restaurant is to par. Prices are beyond reasonable for portions, experience, ambiance and memories made. We love you, Columbia! Bravo.

    We were seated promptly at 5. Our waiter Mark was very knowledgeable and possibly the best waiter I have ever had. The food was delicious and we were extremely full when we left. This place is a must if you are in Tampa. I will definitely go back the next time I’m in Tampa.
