The lamb shank and duck was extremely tasty and delicious. We will be returning for dinner date again. “Miquel “was our server and he was very good. He explained the food as if he was the chef . He was personable and humble. We felt as if we were eating with a friend because of his passion to serve. If you want great service like no other you must try this place and experience it for yourself.

City Gate Grille is one of my favorite restaurants in Naperville area. The jazz on Friday and Saturday evenings is great.

Strip steak was good but they forgot the truffle butter we ordered. Truffle fries good but not very crunchy. Pastigio was weird - runny and lacked enough seasoning. Bechamel was more of a runny cream than traditional. Greek Potatoes were just ok. Service was on the slow side. We won't go back. There are better options.

After two bad dining experiences several years ago we stopped going to CityGate but decided to give it another try in May and then again on n 6/22. Both experiences exceeded our expectations. Staff was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable . Food was an explosion of flavors on the palate. I had an 8 oz. Filet, which was prepared perfectly, and my wife had Ahi Tuna with a perfect light sear and sushi quality meat. What has improved the most is their wine selection, which rivals any Chicago based steak house. I give the meal, the staff and the ambiance 5 of 5.

The service was great. The pita bread with roasted garlic, olive oil, parm, and balsamic was excellent. The chilean sea bass was fishy. Not all the beets in the salad were cooked, they didn’t charge us for it. The tomato salad was excellent and the Pasticcio had a powerful cumin taste to it. Overall, disappointing as it has been one of our favorite places to go. Wondering if they have a new head chef?
