Lovely, intimate restaurant with unique flavorful dishes. A great venue for celebrating our milestone wedding anniversary. Friendly staff that went above and beyond to meet our needs. Server enthusiastically recommended the evening's special, a pan-seared chicken over a bed of baby corn and beans, which sold us on it, and it did not disappoint. Corn muffins that are brought out at the start of the meal were some of the best I've ever tasted. Unique dishes, most of which are a nod to Southern roots. Ask for a table by the window--great people-watching spot. Beautiful old building on the historic downtown square that has been refurbished for a fine-dining eatery.

The Bloody Marys were outstanding, as usual. I ordered the cod lunch special and my husband ordered the eggplant Parmesan sandwich. We would not get either one again.

Wonderful fun atmosphere even on a Wednesday night! Food was delicious! Our table ordered 2 fish dishes, lamb chops and shrimp & grits. The drinks were also awesome and the service was spot on! It's not cheap but definently very reasonable for what you get. Excellent wine prices also.

Lunch at City Grocery yesterday with friends was just delightful! Our server was helpful, professional, and funny. We shared some wonderful appetizers - unusual & delicious tomato tart and "taste of summer" shrimp salad with heirloom tomatoes and melon. Really enjoyed that! Otherwise, we had a sampling of tasty sandwiches. Love the ambience at City Grocery!

We were very excited to try this restaurant, based on the reviews and word-of-mouth. My daughter ordered an entre at about 12:30 p.m. and the waiter reported back a few minutes later that they already were out of one of the key ingredient's of the dish, which was discouraging. I ordered the eggplant parmesan sandwich, which is a favorite dish of mine. The sandwich was not cut, and came on very thick ciabatta bread that made it extremely difficult to eat. In fact, the bread was the star of the show. In addition, the breading on the eggplant was salty, and there was very little marinara sauce. The cheese on top of the eggplant had a funny taste as well. All-in-all, not great. Our waiter gave us fine service and we appreciated the free cornbread for the table. I should add that when my beer came it was about an inch below the top of the glass, a poor "pour," given the cost of what was supposed to be a 14 oz. beer. My daughter ended up having the okra salad, which she enjoyed, but was small and somewhat overpriced in my opinion.
