We had a nice meal at Citrene. They have a good selection of wines from the Balkan region. My Sauvignon Blanc was delicious. We shared the cauliflower app which had a good flavor but the cauliflower wasn’t crispy but covered in a thick but flavorful sauce. The calamari wasn’t as crispy as I wish it were and the portion for the price was skimpy, in my opinion. We shared the strawberry salad which was nice. I had the steak frites. The steak was delicious and perfectly cooked. The fries were disappointing. They were regular fries instead of the shoestring fries I expected and they were just warm, not hot. My sister is the risotto special and said it was delicious. My husband had the pork chop special and really enjoyed it. The carrot cake we shared for dessert was outstanding! Service was attentive and the owner or manager checked on us a few times, which was nice. Very enjoyable evening!

Citrine is one of our favorite restaurants and we like to go there regularly. We found out after we sat down and our waiter came that they were out of their signature dish, the lake superior whitefish. This was the dish that both my wife and I went there for. For a restaurant of this caliber to be out of their signature dish, at 7 PM on a Friday, when they didn’t seem that busy, is really bad for business. We ended up leaving and eating somewhere else nearby. We were very disappointed and I hope management can do a better job keeping their kitchen stocked.

Went on the earlier side - 5:15. Service was excellent as was the food. Noise volume was going up as we were finishing. A wonderful evening.

We started with the grilled octopus. A bit spicy but can be adjusted by not eating the red chilies. My wife had the special: a whole Bronzino with a mushroom/barley side. I had the short rib. Both were outstanding. Highly recommended for great food and service.

Excellent meal. Menu seems more extensive than in the past. Plenty of choice, including options for anyone who’s vegetarian. Great cocktails as an accompaniment. Appreciate the complimentary homemade limoncello to end the evening. Service was impeccable.

The food was delicious. The atmosphere was very laid back and pleasant. The staff was wonderful, very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Citrine Cafe.

We recently moved to Oak Park and enjoy trying the many fine restaurants in the neighborhood. Citrine has quickly become a favorite, with its exceptional cuisine and interesting Eastern European wine selection. Service is impeccable: this last time Lauren really helped make my husband's birthday celebration special. We appreciated the chat with Stephan (owner/chef), learning more about the restaurant and his family. The food was delicious and we look forward to trying more menu options next time. Always a treat.
