This was my second time dining here. I came last year and the food and service were great, they were super busy but our waitress was attentive and never left us for too long. This most recent experience was a total 180. We showed up on time for our reservation and they didn’t have a table ready for us, they said they’d text when a table was ready and as we were walking out they brought us back in to sit in the bar area and then never took our order. Once we were finally seated at our table we had the worst waitress I’ve probably ever had at any restaurant I’ve been to. She took only one of our four drink orders and then just disappeared for 10 minutes, came back with the one drink and then told us about the specials which it seemed like she had about 2 minutes to memorize them before telling us about them because she stumbled through the whole thing. At that point we had to ask her if the rest of the table could go ahead and order drinks, we never got bread. Someone in our party asked if he could have the French onion soup as an entree and she said yes and then brought it out with the appetizers and it was the same size as the other one we ordered (we were expecting a larger size). I ordered the scallops and pork belly. The scallops were cooked well but there was virtually no pork belly and what was there was pretty over cooked. If you’re going to call a dish “scallops and pork belly” there should be equal parts of both in my opinion. Overall our waitress was extremely inattentive and not knowledgeable about the menu at all. We were all super disappointed in our experience here. We did notice their health rating went down significantly in the last 6 months and with food and service changing so dramatically in just a year something’s obviously going on here. Big bummer.

Food was decent, but not extraordinary. Service was also fine. Main courses took too long to arrive. Their music option is off, with the charming environment they have created, French or classical music would be more suited to add to said atmosphere rather than contemporary/pop, imo. Worth checking out but it’s not high on my list of places to return. It does evoke French bistro (but with fine dining prices). I should say we were seated in the cellar (which was cozy) rather than upstairs. Our server was sweet and capable, but seemed like she may have been new so though adequate, not yet polished. . It was a lovely evening but just an average dining experience overall.

Everyone was exceptionally nice. Service outstanding. Food was excellent, although somewhat pricey. Husband got the bouillabaisse (YUM!), and I got the ratatouille (delish and beautifully presented!) which were similarly priced…didn’t seem like this should’ve been the case. Son got the steak frites-really outstanding. The decor is eclectic, cozy and inviting. Thank you for an enjoyable evening!

It was a lovely experience the history of the building was great and the waiter was very knowledgeable about the history. We love Savannah and have been there many times this was our first time dining at Circa

We enjoyed a lovely dinner at Circa 1872. We discovered this restaurant about 10 years ago on a trip to Savannah and made a point of returning. We were not disappointed. Our server was delightful and very attentive. The food was delicious.

Despite the hostess' and waiter's pleasant and apologetic demeanors, they couldn't excuse the 1+ wait for our food. They plied us with bread and, only after multiple inquiries, did they offer a meager top-off of a single wine glass. When dinner finally arrived, the bouillabaisse was lukewarm, bread (yes more, burnt ;( shrimp overcooked and a few of the mussels were closed, therefore unable to be eaten. Not worth the $45. Would never consider sending it back for fear of a similar wait for the replacement. The duck was unimpressive as well. While the decor was reminiscent of a Paris cafe, the similarities ended there. Circa 1875 was a poor imitation of the real thing. Having eaten abroad at multiple Parisian restaurants, we expected at least a passable alternative. An upscale French restaurant with this price tag should be up to the task. A gratis creme brûlée did nothing to improve this rating.

We have dined at Circa 1875 many times since it opened. Last night was the worst dining experience we have had in our 16 years living in Savannah. Our main course took over an hour to get and the trout dish we ordered was inedible!! It was not as described on menu. No carrots and no brown butter sauce. ( I had had this dish before several months ago and it was delicious. The major problem last night is there was a table for 12 and because of them everyone’s food was delayed. Maybe they shouldn’t take a reservation for 12 on a Saturday night! The hostess offered not to charge us for our meal, but after waiting over an hour and then getting 2 of our 3 dishes so bad , we decided to leave. Ironically my daughter from New York had requested to eat at Circa on this visit. And unfortunately it was a terrible experience. The hostess said that they have a new chef? Hope they correct all their mistakes.
