Last time we loved eating here and everything was wonderful. This time I decided to reserve for my birthday and we ended up leaving without ordering anything at all after a half hour! 1) We got shoved into a barely lit corner booth like 6 inches from another full table 2) There were two servers and both of them tried to go back and forth greeting us for 10 minutes before picking one 3) We were waiting 25+ mins for a wine and canned beer order that i could literally see sitting on the bartop! All the staff vanished when we looked for them so we just left. Disappointed :((

Not very impressed as we’ve dined at what I consider to be true French restaurants that were so much better. Service wasn’t good at all. I think the wait staff were just kids who knew nothing about wine or French food (or how to provide good service for that matter). The scallop appetizer was very good and so was the trout. Bread didn’t taste like a French baguette, there wasn’t any pate on the menu and the French onion soup wasn’t good at all - it was tasteless. We were told this was one of the best restaurants in town, but can’t agree.

My husband and I took my mom and some friends here for dinner. Didn’t know about the downstairs but got sat there and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Onion soups all around, hot and flavorful. Steaks were cooked to perfection and wine flowing steadily. Our server was attentive and overall everyone had a blast. Thank you Circa 1875 for once again a wonderful time! Cheers!!!!

The food was excellent but the service was subpar. We ordered the foie gras and while it was nice we asked the server if they had Sauternes and he didn't seem to know what that was and I'm pretty sure he didn't check to see if they had it as he much later asked if we still wanted the Sancerre, which is a completely different wine. When he did bring the orders he didn't know who had ordered which drink/entree etc. and had to "auction them off" to the table having us tell him which order belonged to which guest. Not the worst thing in the world but for the prices we paid I expected a higher level of service. My friend and I order the "Cassoulet", which while tasty, didn't have cassoulet beans or fit the expectation of a cassoulet. The dining room was rather loud and we had a bit of trouble hearing each other over the din. The food was good but with all the other restaurants in the area I don't think I'd return to Circa 1875 again. Duncan

We ordered appetizers that arrived warm at best -- these were meant to be served hot and so the cheese was hard and not appetizing. I have had the scallops before and they were good because they arrived hot, not cold. Our entrees were good. I think the server was just overextended.

The food was fantastic as was the ambiance. We basically got five different appetizers as our dinner and every single one of them was incredible.

The restaurant was beautiful inside and the service was amazing! The appetizers were the stars of the evening, We had the foie gra, escargot and the muscles. The broth in the muscles was just so delicious. The escargot melted in your mouth and the foie gras was flawless. The atmosphere was as if you were in a little restaurant in France.

Great experience. Designed as a French bistro. We sat downstairs at the wine cellar. All of our dishes were fresh and wee prepared. Attention to detail was clearly evident. The appetizer consisted of mussels and a Cesar salad. Each was very enjoyable. Main courses of steak and fries (made in duck fat) and diver scallops accompanied with crisp pork belly, corn and mushrooms was fantastic. Desert consisted of a very tasty lemon cello cheese cake and creamy pistachio gelato. A great end to a wonderful meal. And of course a good bottle of wine. Highly recommend.

Almost everything was amazing! Food was fantastic, except the steak and that surprised me since the reviews for the steak frites are great. It wasn’t bad, just nothing special. Everything else was so delicious! Service and atmosphere were superb! Chairs are a bit uncomfortable for a leisurely dinner and it’s crowded so wait staff frequently bumped us, but it wasn’t more than a mild nuisance. Overall we loved it and can’t wait to go back! 🥰
