This bustling New York-style steakhouse in Greenville continues to wow year after year (since 2001 to be exact) with ‘Top Restaurant’ awards, as well as wine ‘Award of Excellence’.     Really great meal last night. Had a last minute change of plans from Halls to here. Glad we did! One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Our server was awesome too. For a Clemson fan. lol

    My wife and I have a soft spot for Chophouse '47. We look forward to a nice dinner out every year to celebrate our birthdays and anniversary all in one celebration. It's our place. This year, it fell flat, and I have to say I was disappointed. Normally it is a wonderful experience. I reserved through OpenTable, specified "booth please" and that the occasion was "birthday". Upon arrival, the hostess seemed to have difficulty finding our reservation, but nonetheless had someone show us to our table, not a booth, in the middle of the highest traffic area in the dining room. The woman seeing us to the table put a receipt on the table where it showed my request for a booth, almost comedically clearly written in large font. About 10 minutes passed before anyone acknowledged our presence at the table. i was repeatedly bumped into by the carts coming from the kitchen. i am not sure why they choose the narrowest path possible to try and maneuver these carts. my wife ordered her steak well done, and although i understand and agree that's an affront to steaks everywhere, it's still possible to make a well done steak at least edible. this was completely burned on the outside, to the point that it just tasted like grill residue. my wife never wants to cause a scene, and i didn't realize how bad it was at first. i said something to the waitress, but we were so far into the meal by then, my wife didn't want a new one. to the manager's credit, they did credit the cost of her steak. i think someone realized we weren't overly thrilled with the experience. the waitress came out with 2 glasses of warm champagne and said, "since you've been mixing liquors a lot, here's some champagne to celebrate your birthday." I didn't appreciate that -- i don't need commentary on what i'm ordering. the best experience we've had at chophouse was with a waitress, she was a taller lady with short hair and glasses. she was a rockstar. i'm not sure if she's still there or not.

    We are regulars. Love chop house 47. Food quality is excellent, staff are knowledgeable, respectful and friendly. Never a bad experience
