Chez Joel is a hidden gem in Little Italy. I was surprised by how excellent the meal was. From the ambience to the food it was all top notch. Dress nicely and enjoy an escape from reality!

Another great experience. Our server Chuy was very helpful, nice and not overbearing. I look forward to my next visit.

If you’re in the neighborhood, you may want to try it but don’t travel for this meal. Service was mediocre, start to finish. The waiter (Jesus) asked about the timing of the courses, and then they came out all at once anyway. You might want to bring a water bottle… I had to ask twice to get a water refill, and that is all I was drinking (I was driving the 95 miles home after). I finally stopped another waiter to get my husband another beer because our waiter just didn’t seem interested in checking his tables. I asked 3 times before anyone cleared the dishes of all prior courses including the bread basket they didn’t refill. The food was okay, but not exceptional at all. Each plate had something that struck a wrong note and demonstrated they don’t have a mastery of basics. The snails were okay- competent but not wow. The filet was very nice with the mushrooms but the shallot and mousseline were unpleasant (and unattractive to boot….it looked like an alien fried egg on the plate). There was no subtlety to the garlic butter on the my husband’s ribeye. Kablam! Pow! Garlic in your face! The pommes frites were nice. The bouillabaisse was ham-handed. The shrimp and scallop were nice, but the giant prawn on top was irritating to eat (destroyed the meat) The fish in the dish was not great, but the veggies were downright sad in an unappealing heap. I had to decide whether I wanted my seafood rubbery or steak/potatoes cold, since Jesus thought I’d enjoy the pair simultaneously. He must’ve liked the handsome couple with the expensive wine order better- they merited steak knives. The raspberry sorbet was meh. Not special. The crème brûlée was special and delightful. My husband liked his warm blueberry tart with ice cream. The valet was very nice- it’s $9 now. Restaurant was loud enough you’ll have to nearly yell across the table to be heard (or text your date). Prices are a smidge higher now than on their website.

Staff made you feel like they’re doing you a favor. Valet guy was nice. Food was okay. I am okay with the prices but didnt feel they were fair for the quality/portions.

Great food and outstanding service from our waitress. It was a lovely experience- just a little loud in there, but a wonderful dining experience nevertheless. Will certainly be back and recommend to everyone.

Food and ambiance are amazing. Waiters are rude, kind of like what you’d expect dining out in Paris. Not your usual American waiter experience. Would definitely return for the food though!

A neighborhood jewel in Little Italy with deliciously authentic French bistro cuisine. Super wine list and wonderful service. Love the outdoor patio! Our server (Jose) made an excellent wine recommendation and provided attentive, professional service.
